The table in the room was dirty with crumbs. The ice bin in the room was moldy. Staff was unfriendly from the get go. This place is 100% NOT kid friendly. We were with a 10 year olds hockey team, and they had issues with us from check in. Turned the lights off at the pool while kids were in the water, an hour before the posted closing time. Made false claims about the kids being disruptive.

Good but not great. Service could improve.
I stayed at the hotel with kids for a week over Christmas. The rooms were clean and comfortable but I think we went the whole week without housekeeping. We never got clean towels even though there were multiple people in the room. The kids used the pool and there is a sign saying to leave the pool towels by the pool which is stupid because they dripped on the floor the whole quarter mile that the pool is from the rooms. They also would only authorize my key card for 3 days at a time. This resulted in me coming back late exhausted with rowdy kids to be locked out of the room and the front desk is as far away from the rooms as the pool is. For the good, the included breakfast was great with lots of selections. It is still warm-up stuff but there is always bacon or sausage and fruit and everything. I think the stay was a fair value for the price overall. I like the location better than in Forsyth and you get basically the same thing as the Hawthorne but for less money. It is better than the hotel in Mt Zion.

Great location, priced accordingly
Very comfortable and clean. Front desk employees were very polite. The only downfall I have experienced is the bar and grill have never been open, even on a friday night. I travel here frequently for family and highly recommend.

There was an issue with check in, as I was told that my reservation was put in for September and not October. After about 10 minutes, it was resolved. However, the next day housekeeping and front desk called to ask if we were checking out when I had booked for 2 nights.

Sad to see such a great memory fall so short of what it used to be. Stayed 4 days and didn't get bed/towel service. Plumbing was a mess. Rooms smelled. Restaurant was closed. Staff was kind and eager to serve, just not enough of them I suppose.

Staff was friendly and my room was clean. However it was also very dated. The bedding was extremely worn, the bathroom lights flickered the entire time and the internet was horrific. I had to go to a local coffee shop to get enough speed to do any real work.

Shower needed to be worked on. Accessible clothes rack not sturdy enough to hold my clothes. You want me to have a good nights sleep, get quality pillows. HVAC unit very loud - hard to sleep with it going on and off all night. People friendly, facility quiet, and I s clean.

Our room was great except for the pillows. The pillows were tiny for a king sized bed. They were also very mushy. Free breakfast was fabulous! The hotel was quiet; we didn’t hear any other people. It was very inconvenient to park by the rooms, but to have to walk a long distance to the lobby to check in. My husband is disabled and the hike to the lobby was difficult. I had to drive around the building to pick him up

No room at the Inn.
Arrived after 12 hour trip at midnight. They said they had my reservation but had no rooms available. Had 1 room but is was reserved for a Silver member. Called 4 other local hotels, all full. Booked a Baymont across street. Upon arrival they too said no rooms. Drove 10 miles further and got billed for a third hotel. Asleep at 130 am. Ruffem schnuff em....

I had requested, and received confirmation for, a room with 2 queen beds. Instead, our room has one king. Liveable, and not wi=orth the trouble to change, but not what we really wanted.

Just OK Not what you expect of a Conference Cnt
First let me say, all the the staff we encountered were amazing and friendly. That is what made this stay OK. The actual accommodations are dated and need a good cleaning. The location had ample parking. A disappointment for the price and anticipation of a modern conference center.

Every night we had people making noise and waking us up, you could hear every word from the room next door, and in the hallway they scheduled a wedding party that screamed, yelling, and beating on the walls in the middle of the night to a group of ladies staying across the hall from each other opening and closing the door every 5 minutes late into the morning

The inside was gorgeous and very elegant. The guests were very friendly. One thing I didn't like bout my room was the restroom smelled of strong urine due to a urine soaked shower curtain. The bed was comfortable despite worn out linens with small holes. Never the less I had a comfortable sleep and enjoyed a complimentary breakfast which was magnificent ,so it was a positive experience even though the hot tub wasn't working....I still enjoyed the pool which is overdue for a cleansing. To sum it u in a nutshell...I will return there for another stay.

The rooms were not clean at all there was blood on the sheets and open condoms on the floor which lets me know the rooms were half way cleaned. It smells old through your the hotel not the same conference I use to go to years ago.

This property is in desperate need of a make over. The parking lot has weeds growing in the cracks, doors are taped shut, the halls smell musty. The room we got overlooked an atrium so no outside window. The bar and grill on the property had no food with the exception of 4 types of pizza. However the room was clean.

Our first room was on the main level and our room window opened to an interior hallway, through which a wedding party was using to access their event room. Very loud. Our first room was not vacuumed and there was a dirty sock laying next to the bed. The bed linens were so worn that there were tiny holes throughout the sheets and pillowcases. worse than something you would pick up at Goodwill. We asked for a new room and got one on level four. Much quieter. This time it was vacuumed. And the bathroom with some hot clean. Although the grout and workmanship on the tile was not great. The sheets were still worn. The clerk at the front desk at check in couldn’t tell us if breakfast was being served on the weekend until nine or 10 in the morning. Apparently Sunday is not always a weekend day? The pool looked great, but with the wedding party, we decided not to use the pool.

Huge, grand and beautiful interior!
Huge hotel with a huge pool. Clean and comfortable room and a fantastic free breakfast layout with several options. Very grand looking inside, very beautiful. I would love to stay here again.

I plan to contact the manager on Monday, but briefly . . .
There was a loud knock on my door at 11:30 pm, which I now believe was the front desk clerk. I was awakened by two phone calls in a row on Saturday morning from the desk clerk who asked me to come down to the desk. I told him I was still in bed, but that had no effect. I asked if it was urgent. He said yes. I asked if there was a problem. He said yes. That's it -- no further information or explanation. As I was getting dressed, all kind of things ran through my head, Had I done something wrong? Was a family member sick or hurt? Was someone there to surprise me? (No one even knew what hotel I was in.) What could I possible have done??
When I got to the desk, he asked if I was in room #### and I said yes, nervous and worried about what was going on. He said, "You're in the wrong room." The key worked, so how could it be the wrong room? He said, "you need to gather up all your belongings and move to room ####." I was incredulous! I said I was checking out in just a few hours and that was ridiculous. He asked when I was checking out! It was right in front of him. Eventually he realized the idiocy of his request and said never mind. My relaxing, restful morning was ruined.
Also, I chose this hotel partly because it supposedly had both a bar and a restaurant. What I found was a bar only, no restaurant for dinner, and the bar was closing to the public in an hour because of a ticketed show.

Well they charge an additional 25$ they said I'll get the money back also it's a dangerous area they have people scouting to break into people's cars and possibly rob them they wait till you pull in and they hit the lock button multiple times to indicate a target witch they did as we came in and now my passenger window suddenly doesn't work witch is typically what happens when hastily trying to slim jim a car they then lock it back to cover their tracks..... I don't think I'll be back to this hotel also she wanted multiple cards acted shady when I offered my chime card I use it to prevent fraudulent charges........ Wasn't happy honestly that 25$ I was charged was money I budgeted for drinks and food really ruined my trip I'm poor 25 bucks is Alot of food and drinks that I don't have available I'm going to give the charge a week to be returned before I turn it in as fraud

There was no breakfast like they said there was supposed to be. They threatened to tow my bf car if I didn’t add his car on the parking lot. The air in my room didn’t work and neither did the microwave. The water was not hot for a shower. There was plenty of parking and it was quite.

The employees we met were ALL extremely friendly! We especially enjoyed chatting with the lady who provided our delicious breakfast and one of the housekeepers who happened to be in the elevator with us. Nice facility!

Unfortunately, my room did not have a microwave. I wasn’t sure why the owner chose to put a house refrigerator in the rooms and take the microwave out, but that was the only part of my stay that I was not pleased with. The breakfast was very good. The staff was very friendly.

I stayed here because it was a convenient location as to why I was in town. I rented two rooms, which I disinfected and it was pretty dusty. There was was dried up blood or rusted water marks underneath the bathroom counter in one room and spots of the same in the other. I thought they had upgraded the hotel but no usb plugs and the toliet made a horrible nouse when filling back up. Look like some patch work had been done. The staff was pleasant and very helpful.

The bed should be burned! Falling into the middle trying to sleep. Box spring was grossly stained with I’m not sure what! Gives you a disgusting feeling things are dirty!

There were ants everywhere in my room. When I called the front desk I was told they would spray once I checked out and to move my things away from the wall where the ants where located. There was a large mirror and the ants were crawling behind to hide. There was also a whole in the ceiling where the ants were entering from outside. I had to kill ants as my 4 year old was trying to eat her cereal in the morning so they wouldn’t crawl in her or in her cereal bowl. I stayed here for a gymnastics competition and it was ridiculous. The hotel said I had to go through Expedia for a refund. Expedia said the hotel agreed to give me $47.00 for the "inconvenience". Expedia was terrible when I was speaking to them and said there was nothing they could do except give me a credit of $25.00.

The water did not work in our shower. Tiles in bathroom were broken and wallpaper was coming off walls. Beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. No discount was offered for lack of water.

Very nice- pool and hot tub were great. Room was good. Breakfast was best continental breakfast to date- many choices, both hot and cold.
Only complaint is that bathtub in room clogged. Other than that, no issues. Will definitely be back.

First impression of the lobby and hallway was very positive. Lobby is classy, desk attendant was very friendly and helpful. I was just there for a night because my usual hotel was booked. Overall it was as expected based on the reviews. My only mild complaint would be that I stayed on a night when the hotel was very empty but I still had a next door neighbor. Wouldn't have been a big deal except that my neighbor decided to have an exuberant telephone conversation at 11pm when I was trying to sleep. My sleep music app was able to drown her out. Our first room had no heat, because we live in the same area code they charged us a $150 cash deposit upon check out we had to wait forever to checkout so staff could check our old outdated room. I won’t be back.

I like this property very much. The rooms and breakfast are nice, and there are nice places to go for a walk outside. My only complaint is that I switched hotels because the wifi is not good. I could not use my computer in my room.

The property has certainly declined in the past two years, though the staff tries hard to meet requests. The bar and restaurant were not open all weekend which was a huge disappointment. I would stay again but with lowered expectations.

Toilet was broke wouldn’t flush staff came in at 4am to tell me to take the lid off the toilet and stuck my hand inside the bowl ti flush upon doing this to flush the top caught my finger and I stoped the tank top hit me leg and sustained an injury! They did nothing to make the situation right!

I don't know how this could be considered a business center since the wifi is totally useless. Only one ice machine worked and it was on the fourth floor. The building is terribly dated with plumbing not working well. Although we didn't eat there, the breakfast buffet seemed to be good.

Easy check out,have to repark closer to our room,unfortunately we didn't get connected room that we requested and it was really inconvenient for us ((pool was busy,also they have sauna and hot tub, we didn't go to breakfast but it was provided. Room was clean, but our toilet won't flush so have to ask for fix service, microwave and fridge in room and worked. When we wake up next morning kids was asking if its still night bcz we didn't have a window with outside view,it was hallway view)))

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE GO TO FORSYTH!!
They put us in a room that had a house refridge and no microwave smelled old and mildewed. Then changed us to a room that looked like a normal business room that still smelled old. If there is no smoking in that hotel it should have been to mask the old mildew smell!!
The front desk associate name starts with a C was very rude from the booking over the phone to the check out. She made me feel like less of a person the way she spoke to me about different issues with the reservation and Check out!!! I would NEVER give them another dime this was supposed to be a relaxing trip and I didnnt even enjoy it at all not to mention the pool hot tub and sauna was NASTY!!!!!!

Unorganized in all areas.. No greeting or help at breakfast. 20 people waiting i had to find help continuously. Extremely dirty large house refrigerator in our room filled with take out boxes of food .had to switch rooms . Horrible bed nothing left for any comfort . Restaurant take off it isnt able to serve food only frozen pizza.

Nice place to stay - but no other services
The Decatur Conference Center has been a prominent hotel in the Decatur area for years. It is still a very large facility with 200+ rooms, but the guest volume has radically decreased. The hotel is very clean, but dated. Services are very few -- the bar, restaurant and fine dining are no longer open. There is a restaurant that offered breakfast buffet, but no full service facility.
The room was clean, comfortable, but services are very limited. Price was discounted, but even at the price charged, it seemed higher than it should have been for services provided.

I have stayed there many times because it is conveniently located for me. But, will probably not stay there again. Restaurant was closed. I was told it would be open the next day, but it wasn’t. Mildew on the bathtub, and the drain was clogged. Mentioned this to the desk clerk, and the response was “okay.” Okay?…what about that is okay? Overall, looking a little rundown. I’m sure there are staffing issues, but if basic services are not going to be provided, it’s not worth the price. There are better options available even though they would be less convenient for me.

It was very difficult find the entrance to the hotel .Once you get room you go back to car and drive to your room in the back of the hotel in additinal the room was consume by a apartment size refrigerator.

Upon check-in a cash deposit of $75 was asked of me because I was a local resident.
Just too bad that they have to require a cash deposit. I had no idea that was the case, & took away all cash that was in purse. Just strange.

Spacious Hotel - Solid Value
When I read some recent reviews, I was a little worried about staying here for the first time since COVID. This hotel is still, by far, the best in the Decatur area. Yes - the place could use some TLC in regards to door trim painting, some furniture upgrades, etc. And yes it stinks that the restaurants haven't been able to re-open. But there is still a walk-up bar with some food options, the pool and hot tub are open, and the rooms have a fridge, microwave and coffee maker so basic food/drinks can be taken care of on your own. There is a small bar and a coffee shop nearby so you can get those needs met too. Still - by far - the most elegant property around the Decatur area. And a decent price.

This property is beautiful and used to be the place to stay in the area. I stayed ten years earlier, but it’s changed a ton, likely due to the pandemic. The hotel is huge, but empty. The restaurants have closed and it’s a ghost town. Staff was friendly but struggled with some of their job duties. I had to walk across the hotel, down 4 stories on the elevator, with dinner and luggage in hand 3 times because they could not figure out how to set my room key to unlock my door. Frustrating. I hope something changes and this place returns to its former glory. Rooms are clean and spacious.

You can tell it's an old property. Looks like it was top of the line in its past, but now the carpet is worn, and my shower curtain smelled mildewed. If you are looking for easy access in a nice, quiet area, it's a good place to stay.

The hotel was very nice. Close to our destination. There was a housecleaning issue when we arrived, they quickly resolved it. Although, they did not make the beds or supply fresh towels, it was not an issue for us. I will be staying there again, and I do recommend the hotel to others. Overall, we were pleased.

The condition of the grounds needs some loving attention. Many weeds.

With the recent Covid problems I am aware of staffing issues everywhere.However. The bottom sheets on our beds were not even attached to the mattress( just laying on the mattress) there was a dirty fork behind the bedside table- which I noticed while trying to find a place to plug in the alarm clock-except there wasn’t an outlet-so no clock) The A/C either blasted out frigid air or no air at all ( I checked all the a/c settings)There was liter/ pieces of paper, strings and hair - on the carpet in our room. The only ice machine in this huge complex was on the 4th floor. The hotel restaurant was closed down and the outside facilities were very neglected. Huge weeds covering all the flower beds, green stagnated water in the pool and overgrown, trashy tennis court. Very disappointed.

We opted for this more expensive hotel due to the pool and hot tub. There was no mention that these would be closed on the website. We didn't find out until arrival that many of the advertised amenities would be unavailable. I could have gone to a hotel with free breakfast for $40-$50 less and gotten better accommodations. We saw one person while at the hotel. She wasn't very nice. The hotel was dark and dreary, very worn flooring and fixtures. Not at all like the pictures. Our room overlooked a dark lobby, even dark during the day. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It was so large we had to drive to get to the rooms from the lobby. It reminded me of the abandoned Overlook Hotel from The Shining.

Very nice place only problem was shower was dirty and had hair in it and the everything was closed except the gift shop which have very little in it but that understandable due to covid19 but for that price and the deposit it could have been a little better the guy who brought us sheets and blankets was no nice at all he was rude but the ladies at the front was very nice .

There was a trashcan of soiled bathroom trash in the room that was sealed as covid clean. Unbelievable. They moved us to another room not as nice but appeated clean.
The sack breakfast was disgusting snack bars. The hotel was lovely.
However paint was peeling on the floor and tub difficult to operate.
