No longer the art filled 21c
Hotel switched hands and no longer included any of the art we planned to enjoy. I received an email two days prior to check-in sharing the details of the exhibit on display. Very disappointing to discover the art was gone by check-in and without notice that the 21c was going away. The hotel was very empty looking without any decor.
Soon after check-in, someone came to our door to change the lock over so it could be operated by phone. Then another employee stood outside for several minutes to test the lock, which was also disruptive since we didn’t know if someone was going to open the door each time it clicked. Not really a great way to welcome guests who are starting to relax.
Room was the usual clean and comfortable stay we expected. We just wish there would have been more transparency with the transition as the hotel definitely did not include the beauty we’ve experienced at 21c on past visits and we felt a bit cheated to reserve a hotel that didn’t really offer all that was advertised.

21C is always my first choice! The food is impeccable. It’s very clean and everyone that works there is always super friendly. Very comfortable beds. And they have penguins!!

21c is a-okay with me!
Able to check in early, front desk clerk was so amazing. Super friendly and kind, offered an upgrade. Room was clean and had a great view, bed was a bit too soft my liking. Bar staff was great and drinks fantastic!
I'd skip the breakfast buffet....love all the art and interactive play with the penguins. 21c hotels are a must to stay if you are able....

Stay, drink and enjoy the art
Service was excellent, the room however was not as clean as one would expect. furniture was dusty and a bit stained. The beds are super soft which isn't my preference. I love the art all around and the bar served excellent drinks and dessert. Breakfast was meh, I would have much rather not eaten it. Overall, this was a great trip and a hotel I will return too in the near future

Needs a makeover!
Our first corner room was not very good! The water smelled putrid! Walking into the room, we could smell it immediately. After realizing we couldn’t stand the smell, they switched us to a different room. The room was bigger, but the carpet was filthy. There was a slight odor to the water, but not as bad as the first room. We were there for five nights and one of the days we had to request room service as it was not done. Front desk was very courteous and friendly.

This property needs the rooms to be updated and cleaned properly. The hotel itself is good, the rooms are old, smelly and the sink/pipes smell awful and are extremely loud. Had to get up multiple times in the night to turn on the sink faucet to drip because the pipes made so much noise if it wasn’t dripping. There also is a bright led blinking light on the sprinkler in the room that will keep you up all night. And it’s on the top of the wall so no way to cover it up.

What I like about this hotel was the Penguins. My family had an amazing time moving them around. Rooms were clean. Walking distance to many places. Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. What I did not like. Check in time was 4pm, I had booked two rooms. Upon arriving at 435 pm I was told only one room was available. There were two ladies at the desk, one was polite the other very rude and almost to the point of being aggressive. We all had to go to to the one room and all get ready there since we had other plans already sheduled. We came down an hour later to ask about our other room even though we had been told they would notify us. A very nice woman helped us and even gave us a $30 credit toward food due to the inconvenience. That was appreciated. The entire situation would have not been such an issue if the one lady would not have behaved the way she did, also the next morning upon checking out, she behaved in the same way and she was not even the one checking us out, the lady checking us out was very nice it is unfortunate how one persons rudeness can overshadow an entire hotel experience

Third time staying here and I love it every time!! Our check in was so great - the woman who checked us in was very kind (glasses, light brown shoulder/length hair). The property is so unique with art installations. The hotel bar/restaurant is fantastic - great service, location, rates, comfort - all the things!

Stayed in a suite. The furniture and decorations were very lackluster and underwhelming for the price. Toilet had blood on it when we checked in. Floors were not vacuumed. The art museum featured a very distasteful art exhibit. There were very strange noises throughout the night that sounded like bad plumbing. Overall, a very underwhelming and overpriced experience.

The facilities were ok, the hotel decor seemed a little thrown together, like a renovation that wasnt quite done, i understand it being an art hotel but to restore back to its original grandeur would've been nicer, understanding that a restoration is expensive but the orginal front desk with the marble top was still intact. The rooms were ok, they were clean but very drab and plain, no pictures, just blah. Consudering this was the oldest operating hotel West of the Mississippi, built in the late 1800s, i think the nostalgia of the original would be more appealing, especially with the amazing Savoy Grill attached, oh yeah, thats what the hotel was called, The Savoy

We liked the old look and history of this hotel. The art is interesting and kept us entertained. Has a nice workout room. Staff was very welcoming and helpful for anything we asked. Dining available on site.
Only downside was overpriced drinks and snacks in gift shop, no pool or hot tub.

This hotel was fabulous! The customer service was excellent and the room was clean and the beds were so comfortable. They accommodated us with early check in and responded to my emails in a timely manner. You won’t regret staying in this unique and wonderful hotel.

The art is worth the stay alone. Proper contemporary art that provokes and prods. None of this hotel art malarky. There are dedicated gallery spaces and a real sense someone has taken the time to curate an experience for folx.

We love 21c and the staff. We have stayed here several times and when the price is right we will stay again. This is a great location to power and light district and T mobile center. The amenities at this hotel are exceptional. Self park is right across the street for $10. Will stay here again.

I was unimpressed by the workers at the front desk upon arrival.
I did not see anywhere on the confirmation that the rooms are not ready until 4pm.
I was told I would be first on the list to get a room once one was ready. She never mentioned anything about the rooms not being ready till 4. We waited in the lobby which felt more like a holding cell. no water or coffee options.
I did not receive any text about the room being ready at 4. Instead, I had to wait in a line while 5 others checked in before me. Seemed like the front staff was just hanging around also until anything was ready... Also having someone knock on our door at 10:45 to see if we were out of the room felt like we were being forced out. We had until 11am. That is when they should knock.
Unimpressed. I like the Bentonville location better.

Amazing stay
The service here was amazing! The leopard room was an amazing treat! Dinner was so special—not only delicious but they printed our menu specifically for our 14th wedding anniversary!
My only complaint was that our coffee maker didn’t work and you have to to request for a fridge.

This place is awesome! It's fun wandering around and finding hidden art peices. Definitely take the opportunity to move one of the penguins they have all over the hotel to another location (the staff encourages this).

Enjoyed the art gallery
I always like to start my reviews with the positive things that I enjoy. I enjoyed the fact that this property is in a safe, quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of downtown KC. This is my second time staying her, the first time was also enjoyable. I really love the free art gallery and the hotel changes the artists frequently. This time it was "The Future is Female." The staff is always courteous and friendly. The room is spacious and clean. The two things that I didn't like this time was 1.) There was a sulphuric smell emanating from the bathroom. It wasn't so bad that I had to ask to be moved, but smelled bad enough that I noticed it every time I used the restroom and had to keep the door closed whenI wasn't using it. 2.) They did away with the free coffee cart in the mornings! So you either have to use the not-so-great espresso machine in the room, or go buy a cup of coffee. It may not be that important of a thing for hotel-goers, but I really appreciate walking down to the lobby in the mornings to get a fresh, hot cup of regular coffee.

I chose this hotel because it had a bar, restaurant, and room service. However, none of those were available because there was a convention going on that bought out the restaurant and bar. I should have been notified! Also, the designation “pet friendly” establishments should require a place to relieve dogs.

Hotel was great! My only complaint is the rooms glasses and coffee area was a bit dusty, like it’s been a while since it had been cleaned. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was spacious. The staff was nice. Valet guys were very helpful with recommendations on things to do! I would definitely stay here again.

Was told no free parking and had to use there $40/day valet only to discover there was a free lot adjacent. Ceiling light fixture covered in dust and lucite box in bathroom had previous occupant’s toothpaste smear in it. Would have liked to have regular coffee in lobby rather than espresso machine in room. Room wasn’t cleaned one day of our stay. Sidewalk outside door had a gross glob of something spilled that wasn’t cleaned up for 2 days.

The three day stay started out perfectly. Dinner at the savoy with reservations poor table them the bill with tremendous discounts that we did not have. We are very honest and told the waiter it was incorrect got it corrected and paid appropriately. The next day off to next stop. Return no water no coffee new bedding and towels. Downstairs asked and treated like a baffon that I was unaware I needed to refill the water in another floor and refills were extra 10 dollars told the room service is only other day. Like it was a motel. I am certain the hotel deej clerk should be dismissed at the least, the food at savoy ok just ok wine selection poor. The area fine the hotel fine. Care and service spotty.

The aesthetic of this hotel is awesome. Loved the artwork and unique atmosphere. The food at Savory was delicious. Upon arrival, I questioned how well our room was cleaned as there was someones leftover salad in the fridge and a belt in our closet, but the sheets and bathroom appeared clean so I didn't complain to the front desk. The open parking lot next to the hotel was full of broken glass which made us nervous of thefts and vandalism so we chose to pay the $10 a day to park in the parking garage across the street on 9th which indicated it had cameras and was clean inside.

I appreciate the horrible attempt of promoting female artists, however, the place was simply junked up with nonsense “art” that could be easily confused for old department store props… there was no vending and no interest in assisting other than “maybe the bar a few blocks away around the corner can give you a coke?”
The room itself was very clean and the soaps were incredibly well scented.
Please adopt a theme that might welcome everyone, not just a sliver… if so, advertise as such. And if there must be a theme, please use art which inspires, not third grade weekend art projects… and get a vending machine!!! Will blow your mind!!

We got a room that wasn’t cleaned and the ac was not working. So they moved us to a second room and there were dirty towels all over the floor and stains on the walls of the bathroom. I’m pissed that thanks to Expedia we can’t get a refund as we didn’t stay there. It was disgusting

The front desk staff and the bartenders were great. The room was clean , the only thing wich is a big thing on the roo. Since you go there to rest. The AC was terrible never got under 75 , i stayed at the 21c in Cincinnati and had the same problem.

Spent 208 dollars to stay in a very unsafe area in a tiny overpriced room…
Went looking fir a coffee this morning and saw men in flack gear on the street and no other activity or coffee places other than a homeless food serving place…if you’re looking for a boutique hotel experience- I’d look for an indigo..
