Location, location, location
Location, location, location. I've been staying at Ewa for 30+ years. It's safe, efficient, unfriendly (which is often a good thing when you are sick and tired of the faux-aloha, saccharine "Where are you from?" nonsense), and most of all a great location. This time was challenging since the sink water was scorching but the shower water was tepid. I saw one baby cockroach but no large ones. Still, I'll go back.

This property needs some serious updating. It's dirt upon dirt. things are old and worn out.
You just can't clean that....
It serves it's purpose but I wouldn't stay here again:(
The staff however was awesome!

I am Handicap in a wheelchair and ordered a Room that said handicap accessible but they did not have any when I got there but the Door area was good enough for me and I was by myself so it worked out to a little difficulty. The Room had a smell of people going in wet and room stayed a little Musky. Small Roaches in Room but they do spray Monthly. That is just Hawaii. I did see other Rooms that were in Great Condition and probably been remodeled recently. Now for Location this is one of the best Spots. 5 Minute walk to the Beach or less. And in an area that I think is one of the best areas. Food trucks parked by Hotel. They do charge for parking if you have a Vehicle. I would definitely stay there again.

I travel a lot, and I had never been to this hotel before, but it was reasonably priced. I got there and was very satisfied. It was a decent facility, and I especially enjoyed the fact I could sit out on the veranda of the fifth floor and enjoy the warm sun Breezes. Another ideal aspect was that it was on small street that was absolutely quiet compared with any other state I have had in Honolulu for the past 30 years.

Smelled really musty
Great Location, and service was friendly. But room was only cleaned if you asked. And the bathroom showerhead was filthy. The room also smelled awful, really musty.

Lots of cockroaches in the room. Even they were inside the fridge and on the pillows. When I entered the room and opened the fridge, I found a big bug. Disgusting and horrible cleanness.
Wifi was bad connection and air conditioner was bloken. Worst hotel ever.

Not impressed with the manage, she called me when I was still at the airport and talked to as if I was her child, no respect.
The woman literally has no people skill and should not hold this position she should be fired, my plans were to stay until January 4,2024 however because of the way she talked to I moved to a different hotel.
She keeps representing your hotel it will soon go under, never in my entire life have I’ve treated like she did as a paying customer.

I wouldn't recommend Ewa Hotel to anyone.
Serice is terrible and slow.
I got my room, had what looks like black mould on ceiling above window. Fridge was broken and leaked on the floor. I noticed these things the next morning. So i advised front desk. The maintaince guy came quick. He replaced the fridge quickly. But i showed him the black mould, and couldnt do anything.
So asked front desk for another room. I waited close to 2 hours before room change.
Ewa Hotel dont seem to know Hospitality.
1 star out of 5 from me.

So so
I was told I got an upgrade after checking in, but I don’t feel like I did. The so called upgraded room needs renovations. Every 5 mintues, a weird tv turning on noise came from the bathroom by the toilet area. I had to shut the door in order to sleep comfortably. The master bedroom light did not turn on and I told the front desk staff. Some floor tiles in the room were cracked and broken. And the room smelled unusual. The lanai was small and you could bearly fit two chairs side by side.

Worst hotel we stayed in yet and we go to Hawaii every year. Walls were falling apart and the staff told us the cleaners would be in at least twice in the week that we were there but they never came. Walls were paper thin and everything was very noisy. The beds were super hard and we never slept the whole time we were there.

The location was great, access to food trucks and other dining options, bars, and the 5-minute walk to the beach! Only complaint was my room had smell to it but after opening the window and spraying the room down with deodorant by the staff, all was well.

Busy holiday weekend
Checked at 3pm and was told there was no more parking. All near by parking garage was full. There was an additional 22.42 hotel fee I had to pay which was unexpected.

An older hotel with the normal amount of wear but definitely not rundown by any means. But for the price and convenience to the beach it can't be beat. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. I have stayed here multiple times and been happy with my stay. Some noisy neighbors at times but overall ok. I am always pleased with my stay every time.

Honolulu is expensive this wasn’t worth it.
Honestly the staff was excellent the only problem is the hotel itself needs major renovation and the maintenance done was not great. My fridge was basically a freezer and overall it felt somewhat seedy. Location pretty good.

Like a cheap hostel with a private bathroom
It's an old hotel and has clearly not been updated for decades. The pictures make it look much nicer than it is. Our room was very wet. It seemed probably clean, but so old that it still looked dirty, and the space was pretty cramped. There are handy things like a microwave and mini cookstove, so it would probably be great for a backpacker. More like a hostel than a hotel in quality, but with more privacy.

Owners PLS update - last resort or saving $ only!
We booked a room here for just one night - we had Hanauma Bay tickets early in the morning. I was stuck on this one and a nearby hotel that was about $50 more expensive -- if it's just a $50 difference, go with the more expensive one. LOL big regrets. This hotel is super outdated and overall kind of gross, and I don't blame the staff at all - they are lovely.

Sweat stains on the couch, bed was old and lumpy, no usb connections anywhere, window seals weren’t fully closed so you could smell the mold, people smoking marijuana on the same floor as me and the on duty team did nothing. The female staff member was great but the management needs to invest in the property to make it better. I told her everything is fine because I had no time to play the let me find you a new room game. I would not stay here again unless I could verify the changes listed above were made.

Front door didnt seem secure, hallway and elevator both seemed ragged/sketchy and signage for old Aqua Oasis hotel still displayed. Signs of bed bugs.

Hotel was very dirty and old! Nothing like the pictures. No room cleaning if you stay less than 4 nights. Curtains falling apart. Room dirty and cigarette smoke. Carpet extremely dirty throughout hotel and room. Would not stay here anymore.

Do you want to sleep with bugs?
Room conditions so bad. Lot of cracks on the wall, and bugs everywhere. Poor sound insulation, can hear TV nose, and people talking on phone next door sounds like talking to you.

The front fesk staff was AMAZING! That is the only thing this place has going for it. The furniture is dated and the bed was not comfortable. I was "upgraded" to a "new" room and instantly got mad. Im so glad I brought my own towels, blanket, and pillowcase. There were dead gnats in the tub and on the ceiling in spider webs. The towels were stained. And the wallpaper was poorly put on and was being held with staples and caulking! It took forever for the water to get hot. I went to the ABC store and bought air freshener cause it smelled. Overall, just not a clean or pleasant place.

It's definitely got the feel of a discount hotel. No frills. No daily maid service. The walls are thin. The sheets don't fit the bed. The neighbors are loud. They allow dogs. They charge a 19 dollar amenities fee (per night) AND they have no amenities. No pool. No gym.. I don't think I'll be back here again. The only good thing is the location.

The rooms did not look like the pictures online. There was a funky lemon smell in the rooms. And worst of all the place has roaches. For the price of the room and $30/day for parking, I expect the place to at least be free of unwanted guest like roaches.

Great budget hotel
I liked Ewa Hotel for the following reasons - very close to the Kuhio beach (4-5 min walk), cleanliness, and cost. The hotel could do with some updates like painting. However, I still highly recommend this hotel. It served our purpose well. The staff were friendly. The cost was reasonable.

The Ewa hotel Waikiki was a smaller hotel and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had a late flight to go back to Maine and we also took an all day bus tour of the island while we had to wait until the evening to get picked up at the hotel and they let us check out early and held our bags for us until we got back from the tour. We still had 2 1/2 hrs to wait so they allowed us to use the public restroom to change and sit in the lobby and charge our phones until our transportation arrived. Very pleasant!

Our room never had hot water we let the front desk know and they switch our room. And Then in our new room after 3 days their was ants crawling the console and I had 2 crawling on my while I was laying in the bed. I let front desk know I told them if they could just spray and change the sheets or something it was late and we were checking out the next morning we didn’t want to move. They came to the room. And sprayed. The next day when I went to check out. The receptionist asked about our stay. I asked if we would get a discount for the inconvenience, she stated that I did… since they switched our room, and I was like ok whatever but what about the bugs she’s stated there was notes of us complaining of bugs. I let her know who we spoke to and because they didn’t note it in there system they can’t say it happened. She tried to make it complicated saying they they moved our room and that fixed the problem I clarified that the room switch was for the cold water not the bugs. After 30 mins of going back and forth they would refund $100 for the bugs in the room but not the room change. Because they took care of it.

Great basic place to sleep and explore waikiki
This hotel is a great place to sleep, shower, and leave your luggage for a day or 2 while you explore waikiki. The hotel is old school waikiki, so other than updated electronic door locks, you are getting a 50's, retro hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The parking is on site (although limit number of spaces.) The air conditioning kept the room very comfortable. Easy 1 block to the beach. Easy walk to many restaurants, coffee places, the zoo and aquarium. Our room had a small refrigerator and microwave which was convenient. This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. It definitely met our needs for a 2 night stay.

The staff was helpful and friendly the rooms were clean or like the refrigerator and microwave in the dishes that are included there wasn't a great view but it's just a couple blocks from the beach which was nice so overall it was a pretty good motel I ended up being very happy!

Surprisingly good value and quality stay
Very good location away from the commercial bustle of Waikiki, while still being near the parks, Queen Surfer's Beach and walkable to food and restaurants. Fairly quiet too, given alternatives, because it is located on a side street. Very friendly, informative staff and clean rooms.

Pretty decent stay overall. When you’re in Hawaii, there are far better places to be than a hotel. It fit the budget and was in a perfect location. Everything is in walking distance.

The staff was so friendly and accommodating for my first time in Hawaii. We didn’t spend much time on the room, but everything was perfect for what we needed and the cheapest place in Waikiki. The location is great as well because it is close to the beach but not right in the middle of everything so it was nice and quiet for sleeping. We will for sure stay here again when we get back to Hawaii.

Property was outdated in the inside. The Wallpaper coming off the walls in the hallway. Room was clean when we checked in. Housekeeping cleaned out room once out of 9 days. It’s a get what you pay for type of thing. Food trucks outside of hotel are good to eat. ABC right around the corner. Location was convenient. Staff was friendly. Parking is $30 per day. Space fills up fast.
