Great stay
We loved the property. The grounds were so beautiful and we enjoyed our days by the pool, kayaking in the lagoon, and watching the dolphins. Our kids were entertained and my husband and I really enjoyed lunch and drinks poolside. The amenities really make this place special.

No hot tub work, close the pool early. No one at the front will help you unload your bags or load your bags. Nobody wants to help you whatsoever will not be ever going back.

Maintenance of outdated rooms
Hotel has a great location. 1st impression is amazing. The hotel needs updating, the lifts are old and the carpets are stained and dirty. The floor in our room had not been swept and was sandy and dirty. The bathroom toilet paper holder was broken and left on the counter. The bath hot tap was also broken so no hot water in the bath. We had to use the shower to fill the bath. All was reported to the reception. Took numerous requests to get repaired and eventually the hot tap was removed and nothing said. Overall quite disappointing as this was not communicated to the Manager until I saw him on the day we left.

The front desk attendant barely acknowledged us when we arrived. No one seemed to be informed when we asked questions. Tv did not work so had to have someone come up. The room did not have any glasses and had to ask for coffee. Soap dispenser in our shower was broken.
Only person who seemed knowledgeable was Arno at the bell desk. They could not explain charges. Way over priced for what we received. I am all about customer service and it lacked greatly.

Pool hours were very limited. We were disappointed to find out that the pool area closed at sunset. Especially considering we had waited throughout the day for weather to clear, and when it was finally nice out it was too late. We also had a negative experience with a waiter at the ale & anchor restaurant. They were disappointed with our tip and followed us out and were extremely confrontational. Tips are not always guaranteed, not traditional for all travelers, and should be based on level of service, not the meal price especially if they are over priced. Our waiter that chased us out only brought out drinks & forgot the to go boxes requested. We had to flag down someone else after waiting for some time. The atmosphere & food were fine, but the confrontational attitude of the waiter definitely left us with a negative impression of the overall experience.

Problems started at check in and continued
1. We arrived early and was told that we will be texted when room was available, after 7 pm, when we returned after dinner, the receptionist said that we didn’t get a text because the room wasn’t available until just then. Then we were told to go to the wrong floor. Then one of the 2 key bracelets did not work.
2. Have to request for housekeeping (that is ok): but no one answers the phone. And the reception desk & concierge desk were unmanned for a long time
3. Terrible WiFi that cannot sustain conference streaming or to watch a missed lecture
For $55 daily resort fee, they charged for pickleball paddles.

I'm sorry to say we haven't enjoyed our stay at your resort. The natural beauty here is stunning, but I never felt at home here, more like an easy buck.
Not Worth the Premium Price—Disappointing Experience
I hate to leave a negative review, but my family's experience at Hawks Cay was far from what we expected given the premium price tag. Here's a breakdown:
1. **Room Quality**: The hotel rooms were disappointing and can best be described as "dingy." Certainly not what you'd expect for the rates they charge.
2. **Amenities for Children**: Hawks Cay markets itself as a kid-friendly resort, but the reality falls short. The pool closes at 7 PM, and the kids club shuts down at 3 PM. What are families with children supposed to do after these hours?
3. **Location and Convenience**: The resort is isolated, and you'd expect some basic amenities like laundry facilities to be available. No such luck—you'll have to drive 30 minutes to Marathon for laundry services.
4. **Food and Dining**: Prepare for sticker shock—the food is prohibitively expensive. We spent $85 on a simple breakfast of two coffees, two breakfast sandwiches, and four small empanadas. Dinners and sit-down breakfasts are even more expensive, costing us around $200 and $175, respectively.
5. **Hidden Costs**: On top of the nightly rate, the hotel demands a $200 per day deposit, adding an unexpected financial burden to our stay.

Started trip with a little trouble checking in. That got straightened out. They said i got an upgrade, not sure what it was. Room was ok, had a balcony that overlooked the parking lot. Both pools were nice, but area not kept very clean. A lot of debris from trees around both pools. Service at the adult pool was non existent. The main restaurant on site was closed most of the stay.

Hawks Cay was okay
The pool area and the food and bar available poolside were very good. The dolphin encounter was awesome. Hotel activities were okay. One night no one showed up and nobody knew anything about the event. The carpets looked a little shabby. The room was nice but nothing special. Parking was challenging. They had one ev charger but you had to break your charger cable. The activities for children was done nicely. The fireworks on Saturday night was awesome but you had to get there early for a seat.

The staff on reception were rude and had an attitude, they were very unhelpful. The room did not get cleaned unless you stay for 3 nights. Apart from that beautiful location and hotel setting. This was our third trip here but we won’t be returning after this time.

The cleaning and maintenance of the room was poor, the room was not cleaned, such was the case that we were left without toilet paper, we had to request it at 11 pm at the reception, the problem with the shower was reported 3 times, no one came to check.

The hotel was nice but terrible customer service. Other guests charged items to our room and we had to argue for an hour to get it removed and had to argue with the market staff who didn't believe us. We asked them to check the security cameras trying to prove it wasn't us. Absolutely ridiculous. There should be some sort of security measures so that people cannot charge to the incorrect room or those incorrect charges should be taken off without question.

The rooms were outdated, tv didn’t work, sheets had holes in them. The staff was not friendly. We ended up leaving the following day even though we paid for two nights because the beds were so awful to sleep on. The only good part was the dolphin encounter.

While the property offers a number of dining options, all sit down options are quite pricey. The hot tub at our villa did not have working jets and no one was able to remedy that, nor offset our cost. I think having an amenity not functional is unacceptable. Strange missing things in the villa were also of note, like the wand to control the blinds and the lamp knob missing on the main lamp in the living area. More attention to these conveniences would be appreciated.
The properties are very well maintained and the flora/fauna were great to see. We enjoyed our stay, for the most part, despite the above issue.

Family Friendly but…
Nice resort in the keys. Great pool and very family friendly. Having the dolphin connection on the grounds was convenient and a wonderful experience.
I am disappointed that the wifi was choppy and cell service is horrible on the island. Our room phone did not work and we were told the line is broke so use our cell phones. The hallway to our room has a funny smell as well which made me question cleanliness.
My son did enjoy his vacation.

Property is amazing. Everything that you need is inside. No need to leave the hotel. Beautiful beach lagoon.. dolphin encounter was amazing. However, the room we received was old and dated. Bathroom doors where pealing off and metal pieces were rusted out. But we love the hotel . Service also was a little slow. I requested extra sheets for the bed and I had to call twice. After an hour they came by to drop them. This was not expecting this from a property like hawks cay.

Beautiful but disappointing
We stayed at Hawks Cay 7 years ago when I proposed to my wife and have been trying to come back ever since. Hurricane Irma caused damages to the property so we weren’t able to return. Then COVID happened and we had a baby so our chances of return were never ideal. This year for my wife’s 30th birthday I committed to make it happen. We stayed 2 nights in a guest room with partial water views. Check in was fine but I was slightly insulted that they gave me a free drink card “on us for my wife’s birthday” when that’s simply a perk I receive regardless with my Hotels.com Gold Rewards. Not a big deal but they didn’t have to lie to me. On our way to our room I was disappointed in the “renovation” of the property. The hallways still looked old and had no air conditioning. It was in the 90’s that day so it felt disgusting just walking to our room. Our room was disappointing as well. The walls and ceiling look like they had bad previous damage that they just patched up with spackle. It was done by an amateur, not professionally done at all. The outside of the property is beautiful still. The draw of the swim-in lagoon and the dolphins allow the resort to get away with slacking in other departments, like service. Overall, the employees were fine. They all had a bit of an attitude about them that you don’t expect at a nice resort like this. Playa Largo, Cheeca Lodge, and Bakers Cay all do a far better job. It’s impossible to reach the front desk from your room phone either.

The good - the resort is big, the pool area is nice. The poolside drinks were reasonable. Family oriented. The restaurant, one sixty prime, was reasonably priced and the food was good. The staff at the restaurant were very sweet and worked hard!
The bad - I called the front desk the day of my check in to find out if i would have trouble checking in later in the night. They assured me - it would not be a problem. When I got there the girl at the front desk - took at least 15 min to check me in. I asked if there was a problem to which she did not reply. she then left to a back room and I waited for 10 more minutes before she came out to say, she was fixing up a "mix up"
When I finally get to the villa it is outdated. definitely not what i was expecting for a weekend stay thats costing me 1400 dollars. the tiles cracked, old tvs, sunken in couch. To make matters it was dirty, it was dusty, the floor was very obviously dirty, old water marks and dirt. The bedrooms are small. The bed was made but half the pillows were missing pillow cases. There were no bathroom towels stocked. When I called for towels, it took them an hour to have them delivered and I had to call twice. They left a sponge for dishes but no dish soap. Housekeeping walked into our villa an hour before check out to start cleaning - we were still showering! Stay at a different resort - not worth the pric

It was great, we stayed in a villa which was ok however it would be nice to have housekeeping refresh the towels without having to ask for it. Also there was no water or any drinks in the fridge and we arrived late so we had to ask the front desk for some water. Some of the staff were not so friendly. The amenities are great. The lagoon is amazing, the kids pool is amazing too. I would definitely go back.

For four seasons prices we expected four seasons service and quality. Room was excellent, plenty of towels. Amenities around hotel were lacking, pools hot, dirty, and boring. Dining options very limited with available food over seasoned and dry. Appeared most of the hotel just buys pizza and eats that instead of dining at restaurants. Enjoyed Angler and Ale, wished we knew it had a better menu than all of the options and would have dined there. Glad we only booked one night.

Poor service at the adult bar after the main bartender was off for the weekend and holiday. I saw 6 people at the bar and food sat for 15 minutes before the bartender even realized it was there for patrons at the bar. Entertainment was a girl with a guitar that was terrible which forced us inside to avoid the singing. Limited food choices and nothing close by. Overpriced. We will not be returning

We truly enjoyed our 4 day stay at Hawks Cay. My 2 complaints would be the uncomfortable bed; which was excessively firm, and the adult pool that just needed a good cleaning. Tile and all.

Overall we had a wonderful time, it was a beautiful week, and a great experience. We especially loved the food on site, each restaurant unique enough and a fabulous menu. The chefs are really accomplished, exactly what my husband and I were looking for. The marketplace also had great options for our tween daughter, who isn't as inclined to eat fancy meals. The staff were very attentive and helpful, although one server had an argument with the host about seating that was not as unobtrusive as it could have been. Wayfinding for activities might have been a little more clear as well, and we were disappointed not to see the firepit turned on at all at the main resort. One other piece of advice, the tipping expectations could also be made more obvious - we understood cash was not needed as we expected to bill to the room, and leave cash for housekeeping at the end of the week, but I think the housekeepers were a bit put out. We loved the views though, gorgeous lagoon and pool, and the onsite access to kayaks and paddleboards was fantastic.

The weather was perfect. Marsha at the front desk was absolutely great. She helped us upgrade our room and was so kind and helpful. We wished the fire pit was working because we went to the live entertainment every night and it would have been an added bonus. All the talent was good but Dan Sullivan was the best! Loved his music. 💕. We wished our door leading to the adult pool could have an access using our our room key bracelet, instead we had to walk in through the hotel. Minor, also, but we got no bathroom cups to use, plus the in-room coffee machine wasn’t that great. Overall though, we would love to go back. 👍♥️

Overall experience was ok. We have visited Hawks Cay multiple times and you can see how the service and quality continues to decline. The kids pirate pool needs some major attention. Non of the water canons worked and the boat itself was delaminating throughout. At the main pool we were not services at the further end of the pool. My kids love to eat fruits by the pool but unfortunately they don’t serve fruits and the marketplace also ran out of fruit cups. Room cleaning was poor I left a generous tip and all we got was 3/4 made bed and a couple towels left on top. Overall not bad but not the experience I had previously

Beautiful hotel with Well-mannered Staff
The hotel has a gorgeous landscape and it is full of fun activities. The property has 61 acres. I could not believe it, especially in the Keys, and it has a wide range of things to do for couples and families. We were impressed with the friendly and courteous staff. All from the Caribbean Islands. Very sweet. We had an issue with our room and they immediately upgraded us to a pool and ocean view with balcony. We enjoyed the lagoon, the pool, the tennis courts and the Calm Waters Spa. It was really relaxing.

Great hotel for the keys however- very limited food options. The place has some liter all over the grounds, just felt alittle dirty especially when it’s next to beautiful ocean. The birds and flies are very aggressive at the pool area/tiki bar. They need to put wires up above to keep birds away. Housekeeping never showed up despite asking the front desk 3 times. Spray Bay Area needs updating- water slide had a seam that hurts. Dump buckets didn’t work right. Just not what we expected for the price we paid.

We took my son for his 8th bday. He chose The Keys over Disney! And we are so glad he did. Hawks Cay is a new family fave and we will definitely be back. My only issues were the insanely slow service at bfast (just know they’re on island time and don’t be in a hurry), the staff at the pizza place were in no way pleasant and though I let the resort know NUMEROUS times way prior to arriving, the didn’t have his name on the bday board in the lobby. Didn’t ruin our day but little dude was bummed. But the wonderful woman who checked us in sang Happy Birthday to him and put a huge smile on his face. Thank you for that! And after that she asked him how his bday was at checkout. That was special. I wish I caught her name. All in all we loved it and will be back!

We only stayed one night. When we checked in we were told the family pool area closed at 6:00 pm but the front desk clerk did not mention that the main pools closed at sunset, which in practice was 7:00 pm. Was quite disappointed when my kids and I got in the pool at 6:55 just to be told five minutes later that we had to leave. They also had no towels in the pool area, so we had to walk back to our room soaked. When we complained to the front desk clerk we were told it was our problem for not reading the fine print in the six page set of instructions they handed us at check in. Who reads all that on vacation? To make matters worse, one of the towels provided in our room had what appeared to be blood stains on it (photo attached). Obviously no one bothered to look at the towels when laundering them or turning over the rooms. They have several restaurants on site but they are very expensive for what you get. All in all, I did not find this resort to be worth the significant amount they charge. My family and I will not return.

Property is dated, pools close at sunset, so called lagoon is a joke, food selection is poor. Property does not have a sauna or steam room in the spa. Bathroom in the room was very dated with a tub & regular shower curtain. Over priced for what it is, we cut or 4 night trip short and left after the 1st night.

Our townhome was called Sunset view, but there was no sunset view. We liked the townhome. The man made lagoon is magnificent. Very busy pool. Extremely nice marketplace that makes excellent pizza and starbucks.

Relaxing week in paradise.
What a relaxing week at Hawk Cay. We had a pool/water view. The view was so relaxing. Tall palm trees line the pool and outside bar. Daily housekeepers did a excellent job keeping our room refreshed. Shout out to Radar at the pool. He kept our drinks filled and our belly's filled with grilled Mahi-mahi sandwiches. Bottle of wine at the fire pit watching the stars was another highlight of our trip. We can't wait for our next trip back to the keys and another stay at Hawks Cay.

The resort is great for families and fisherman. However, if you have a regular hotel room without kitchen, that’s where you will struggle. The resort is away from any outside restaurants. Meaning, you would have to drive 20mon away to eat elsewhere. The resort restaurants are not the best food. I bought a burger (how can you need up a burger) and it had no seasoning. I ate it bc i was starving. Other meal options were edible but not great. Specially for the price. This resort works if you rent with a kitchen.

We’ve done the keys for 40 years (since I was born- our family had a home on the water until Irma). To pay $1K/night for Hawks Cay is absurd. Nothing special about it, pool staff was great but in house staff rude. Reservations were impossible and nothing special abt the pool for the kids. Rent a gorgeous house on the water, bring/rent a boat and have a lot more fun for less.

Resort Accommodations Need Overhaul
Hawk's Cay is rather disappointing these days. The outside is beautiful: beautiful pool area, great lagoon area for little ones, nice activities. However, the first townhouse we checked into was so small, literally two people could not be in the hallway or bathroom at the same time. The bedrooms were equally as tiny. Both rooms had queen beds, not even king and there was no space for luggage. The first unit we were in had a small washer and dryer in the bedroom closet so there was no closet and no furniture or flat surfaces (except for nightstands). We were there with our kids and grandkids, and no way six of us could have stayed. We ended up switching to two slightly larger units but the cost was double than our anticipated vacation. And for accommodations that we were still not comfortable with. We looked at the Deluxe Lanai Hotel room for my husband and I but again, dingy and not the vibe we wanted or needed. Nothing about these units or this stay was worth the close to 1200 per night we were paying. The final straw was when the water stopped working that night. No showers, no toilet flushing. We waited until 1 the next day and checked out -- during Spring Break in South Florida. This was out of the control of Hawk's Cay as it was a water main break in the area, however apparently it had been happening and this shut down was the result of a scheduled repair. In their favor, they did refund our stay for the days we cancelled. Thank God.

DISLIKES: was there 5 days, had room serviced once. always shorted bath towels, ran out of conditioner first night, went to customer service, they said it was my job to let them know room needed serviced. Not for $1K a night its not. Market place not well stocked. Ran out of Desani water first night in cooler, cases of desani behind counter, no one bothered to refill. After 2 days, I finally asked if I could buy the warm bottles. Water main break at property (not resorts fault), however not sufficient response regarding providing water bottles to rooms. Chaos. Poorly managed respnose. food and drinks WAY overpriced. Disappointing overall experience for the money spent. Will not recommend, desire not to return.

Lovely stay, would return!
Enjoyed our stay, especially our quiet comfortable clean suite ocean side overlooking the adult pool. Loved our breakfast and lunch. Ate dinner at Angler & Ale which is a short 1/2 mile walk.

There was a loud banging from our hotel air conditioner that made it impossible to sleep for the 4 nights we were there. We were exhausted the whole time.

This was our second time staying at Hawks Cay. I definitely recommend if you have tweens. Lots for them to do with pools, paddle boarding, mini golf and kayaking. Only downside of our trip was housekeeping wanting to clean our room before 8:30/9:00 am, there wasn’t a do not disturb sign available for us to utilize. Florida is in a different time zone from our normal/home time zone, so that’s quite early for us. We were always out of the room by 10:00 but it would’ve been nice to have services slightly later. While the hotel restaurants had good food, it seemed as if they all had the same menu, not much of a variety. When we visited last year, much more options/selections.
