Disappointed
Positives: hotel is located near many restaurants, quiet, friendly staff, breakfast was fair.
Negatives: hotel is in need of a MAJOR renovation - dirty carpet, smells musty, electrical plugs were few and some did not work, sink was lose in the kitchenette cabinet, needs painting, parking lot was dirty and there was no lawncare.
Also, website need to remove the old Holiday Inn Express pictures because it is NOT a Holiday Inn Express.

Our room was very clean. We loved our stay! The free breakfast was a huge hit since it was a real, hot breakfast and not just a bagel and coffee. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We will be returning!

Family visit
Bathroom sink was clogged and nasty. The water drains out slow . One of the queen beds the mattress had a huge sink in it as if someone really big had slept on it for years!! Other than those flaws. No other complaints.

I felt like at any given time there could be a robbery. Sketchy people were in their cars in the parking lot probably making a deal. The only staff member looked like she had on sweat pants and oversized shirt. The carpet wasn’t clean, the bed was terrible. I was very disappointed.

Clean and quiet
Reserved online check in was efficient. Breakfast while nothing special was very adequate coffee was better than most motels. We stayed on our way to Fort Jackson. It was a bit out of the way but the price was right.

The window curtain was torn. The bath mat towel was ripped. The tub/shower and sink was slow to drain.
Ankle deep water stayed in the tub while taking a shower. The tub was difficult to step out .

The common areas were clean but the room was not. On arrival I noticed all surfaces were dusty so I cleaned them myself with Lysol wipes. There were cobwebs in the windows and a spider crawled on my face in the middle of the night. Behind the bed and table there was dust and old trash. The staff was friendly and helpful but overall it needs to be cleaned more thoroughly.

The overall hotel just looked dirty. The room was run down and smelt weird. The toilet seat was broken. The blanket had stains on it. The breakfast was hardly that at all. Overall just not a great experience.

The inn needs to be updated. The staff was friendly, however the overall building needs some updating. Cracked tiles, ripped desk chair, elevator had wall damage. probably would not book again due to the conditions of the facility.

The property did not have a good breakfast. The laundry facilities were broken which is so important during travel ball. This is our second stay and the last stay they stated the pool worked and it was broken l.b

The staff was great except they were outside our room door talking loudly each morning. It would have been a lot nicer if they had moved into the office or laundry area. We like to sleep in and the noise at 8 was too early.

Phone didn’t work. Unable to get printed receipt due to printer not working. Wi-fi in and out on TV. Missed the Gamecocks play Florida. Had to unplug coffee maker to turn on light. All hot breakfast food looked microwaved.

We got to the property late... after midnight. When I checked in, they made me sign a document that said they would charge me $250 if I smoked in the room. No problem. We don't smoke. We went to our non-smoking room and it smelled like an ash tray... which made the room feel dirty. I can't say that it was dirty, but it felt that way because the smell was so gross. When I got home last night the clothes in my bag smelled like that room... like a cigarette butt. I checked my credit card bill this morning and I'm showing they charged me twice. Hoping that's a mistake and that one of the charges will be credited back but I'm afraid I may have to spend time fighting the second charge. I had a future reservation at this hotel which I will be cancelling today. This is not the worst hotel I've stayed at in the Columbia area... but it is probably the second worst. I would not recommend this hotel unless you're a smoker.

Only thing not satisfactory was the checkin.. I was checked into a room that was already occupied and the clerk was not apologetic at all when we returned to the desk. Maybe it happens to her all the time… but to her it was no biggie and maybe she felt no apology was needed….nothing was explained about the hotel.. Wifi password….when breakfast was… like most hotels when you check in… was give the key card and told what floor. I felt like we were a bother….and She was not welcoming.

Property staff was accommodating, hotel is a bit hidden from the main street, complimentary breakfast provided, carpet could use a deep shampoo, reasonably comfortable bed, spacious rooms and bathroom. Overall sufficient for our purpose.

Property is well kept and comfortable.
Staff was rude to us. As we were getting ready to leave, they came to knock on the door three times to tell us it was time to check out. It was about 11:40 and they told us our car was going to be towed if we didn't leave in 5 minutes. My family and I are quiet, respectful and courteous. I don't know why they treated us like that.

The first thing I found was that the pool was not open. It looked like a tar pit. It was not stated online as closed, nor was the exterior door leading to it labeled as being closed. The door would not open with the key card and we had to walk around the building to get back in. There was a dead bug on the table, and a dried mushroom on the floor by the table. The toilet wasn't clean upon arrival, and was slow to flush. It stopped up the next morning and instead of sending someone up, they sent my son back with a plunger. I would have called down to the desk, but the phone in the room was apparently for visual props only as it was not connected to anything. The only decent thing about this place was that the morning staff were pleasant on our way out. We will not be staying here again, nor would I recommend it.

Would recommend!
Room was nice, beds were comfy, and staff was great. Only complaint was they were out of pancake mix so there were no pancakes at breakfast. That’s the only thing my son asks for at hotels (a pancake maker or waffle maker). We always make sure there is one of those before booking.

Not even close to Lake Murray destinations
It's an older building. Slow toilet. Stained tub. Lacking ventilation despite air conditioning. I booked for Lake Murray but i was disappointed the resort is 20 miles away.

Unknown to me when I booked, property was under construction. Swimming pool green and scummy. Room telephone out of order so you needed to leave the room and walk to the front desk for anything. Many tv channels had weak signals. You needed to move the cabinet and un plug microwave or fridge to use coffee maker. hair dryer did not work. Found out all this after checking in. tryed to text Expedia immediately and texts failed. Finally reached Expedia the next morning. $50.00 coupon for next trip UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!

There were certain fixtures in the room I noticed were not cleaned properly or all the way. There were fingerprints on the lamp on the table, there were stains on the curtains, there were streaks from not finishing a wipe down on the table and the mirror. The pool was also green, dirty, and closed. That was disappointing as I wanted to swim, but it is what it is.

Went to room 127 and toilet was stopped up. They gave me a plunger to fix it myself. Plunger didn’t work so I got a wire coat hanger and dug out a ladies personal item. Tampon. Then we seen dirt buildup in the bathroom corners, especially behind the door. Under the air conditioner was an empty plastic drink bottle. The property is very convenient.to everything. My hair dryer was not working, and they couldn't give me one to use immediately the first morning (on check out the next morning the staff member said they had one later in the morning for me, but I never showed up to get it - I was in an all-day meeting). The second morning I slept in and had no hot water to shower. Not a terrible experience - I just think some things were not disclosed. The price was fair.

We had two adjoining rooms which we had to enter both rooms through the second room because one door lock didn't work. Our first room had a toilet that wouldn't flush because the handle was not connected to anything in the tank. In our other room, the toilet leaked water onto the bathroom floor. We were then switched to other rooms with no offer of compensation for inconvenience.

Overall a good trip...
I stayed a total of 2 nights....the first room I had had no hot water the next morning and had to take a cold shower in the morning...I returned to stay a second night and got a different room and had hot water!! The dining area is very small and I ended up taking my breakfast back to my room to have a place to sit and eat. Good hot breakfast, but seating area is way too small.

This is clearly an old property. The Bed was terrible and the mattress should have been replaced a long time ago. My coffer maker did not work. The Shower\Tub was new but looks like is was installed over the old one. So the shower head was the same height as my chin. I am 5'11. Great shower for a hobbit.

The property is in a convenient location. We stayed here twice over a short stop over in between travels. Both times we had the same rundown room. It was old and worn out. Check in staff was not the most pleasant that I have incurred. Breakfast staff was pleasant😊

It was a 1 night stay so it was acceptable. Hotel needs some structural refurbishing. It does have a musty smell but fortunately I had Lysol spray which helped some. Beds were no very comfortable. Furnishings we’re fine but needs to be updated. Breakfast was well appointed and well stocked. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Did not use out of room amenities . Price was higher than it should have been for this quality of hotel.

The staff was very friendly. The actual hotel was not worth $155 a night. I had 3 rooms for a basketball tournament. There was an electrical fire, elevator was working, and a major leak in the hallway.

When I entered my room the bathroom was not cleaned, the last tenants soap was still in the shower and the floor was sticky. The bed was was made very sloppy with the dirty sheets on it, they were all wrinkled. And there was mouse feces on the couch. The staff was extremely nice and helpful in helping me get another room and everything else I needed assistance with.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in
The staff were friendly and courteous. The condition of the hotel was deplorable. It is an older Holiday Inn Express and is seriously in need of a complete replacement. There was mould in the tub drain. I asked one of the cleaning staff to reclean the tub because it appeared dirty. Apparently it was painted to make it appear white, but the white paint was also now getting dirty. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was so poor my husband had to rinse his razor under the tub spout. The toilet was unsteady as the caulking was either missing or cracked. The baseboards were dirty and the ceilings had large water stains, including in the lobby. You are probably wondering why we stayed? Well, we had tickets for the Masters and there wasn’t room elsewhere. This is, hands down, the worst Holiday Inn I have ever stayed in.

Not worth the money or stay
Did not have a comfortable stay ! Kids running up and down the hallway all night & day !!! I was really mad 😡 and ready to go when we checked in upon reaching our room our room door was open and this was at 9:00 pm! I immediately went to front desk they tell me the housekeeper or inspector left it open by mistake!!! I said mistake !!! Never 👎 again

Beware!
Never again. Stay Lear. No sheets. Bare mattress. Asked front desk for bedding. He said they don’t have extra. We said it was a bare mattress.
The drywall was completely separated from the shower stall. The TP holder was broken and disconnected from cabinet. Dead roaches by chair in corner.
Why would you even rent out this room??? There were only a few cars in the lot so this hotel was mostly empty.
We gathered up our stuff.

The hotel is older but in relatively good condition. The rooms weren’t overly clean (dirt and crumbs along walls and beds) but sheets/towels and regularly used items were clean. The front desk staff was friendly. Unfortunately we discovered our room had bed bugs in the middle of the night. The manager was unavailable for the night, did not arrive in the morning as expected, and did not call later that day as I was told they would. However when I called the following day, I was able to speak to the manager and was given a refund for the night which was nice since we had to spend a day of our vacation washing clothes and bags to avoid bringing bed bugs home.

Run down, stained carpet, furniture was broken. Noisey hvac machinery sounded like a harley in the hallway, elevator did not work and they put me on the 3rd floor, noone wore masks or social didtance but they required you to wear a glove at breakfast. Coffee was old, stale and cold. Mold i room, stale smell

Not well maintained. Looks great when you pull up. Carpets felt gross—keep your shoes on and the room was not well-kept. Lots of patchwork including in the tub. Furniture vary worn. Mattresses okay. Very grungy. Equivalent of a lower end motel.

Room was fine. The shower had lots of pressure which is always nice after a long day of driving. The sofa sleeper was not very thick, not sure if that is normal or not. Glad they offered hot breakfast, it was delicious. Too bad it was To Go only, except for 1 table.

The room wasn't very clean, especially the bathroom and the shower was broken (and you know how much you look forward to a nice shower after a long day), and the front desk staff wasn't very accommodating. I will definitely choose another hotel.

Yikes.
Despite being a non-smoking hotel someone smoked in our room, uncomfortable mattress, room was very hot, not sure if the noisy wall A/C unit worked or not. Very dissapointed.
