Ok stay
The stay was ok. The room is a bit outdated and not the cleanest. The room did not have a hair dryer and there was only one trash can in the room. I believe they are remodeling due to the amount of trailer bins in the back. You cannot circle the parking lot. Overall ok.

It seems the building is cared for. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Two things. You have a large property here and I’m sure it gets filled often. But the space allocated to get a breakfast is ridiculously small. We had people standing trying to eat standing. One family loaded into their van. Maybe they were leaving. There is a conference room just adjacent. Perhaps making that into over flow.
Number 2. And it is temporary but the storage containers on the property really take up the parking! I know that it will be temporary. So I’m not complaining. Just sharing insight to anyone who reads these.

The indoor pool was heated and relaxing. Breakfast was delicious (i had waffles). The room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend and ill stay again.

Needs updating
Hotel needs updated. Not enough room in the breakfast area for people to sit. Water in the room was not hot just warm. Water did not drain in the sink. Lots of little things that added up. No big issues.

Poor quality
Our stay with you was very disappointing. The doors to our room were very hard to open, the drains in the shower and sink were very slow to drain water, there was no ice available unless we went down to the lobby, and no wi-fi unless we were in the lobby. We have always been pleased with our stays at a Holiday Inn Express facilities in the past, but this experience with you has given us cause to question our choice in the future. When I mentioned these items to the person at the counter, she said that a major renovation would be happening soon. I would sure hope so.

Needs renovations
Comfortable bedding, clean rooms and friendly staff. Needs renovations desperately. Fridge in room did not work and was not told it did not work so had to throw out what we had in the fridge. No WiFi in the room. Good breakfast however they was out of several breakfast items.

Continental breakfast was excellent, a few things I was disappointed in the bathroom sink didn’t drain properly. The vent in the bathroom did not work when I told the lady at the front desk she said they all were not working. I also inquired about the laundry mat and which was one thing I wanted to use and they said it was out of order.

The worst holiday inn express ever!
Absolutely awful! It was obvious the staff were not happy to be there. There were no trolleys to help with luggage, the bed had collapsed on one side, the bathroom was patched with cement and the ceiling was mouldy, there was a big random metal box in the corner of the room covering cables or something. The fire exit to the stair well didn’t even close. There was a small sign saying that the Wi-Fi only worked via a hotspot in reception. There was no fruit juice at breakfast as the machine was out of order and when asked, we were told they couldn’t put any juice on a jug to serve it. There was a sign for pancakes but no machine. The staff sat at a table and watched everyone eat in between topping up the food, while one guest had to use the reception desk as a table to eat!!! The pool wasn’t open until 10am so we couldn’t swim before checkout with the kids. It was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in! We stayed in at least 3 other holiday inn express’s whilst touring the USA over the last 2 weeks and all the others were pretty much perfect. This one needs a lot of help!

When we arrived after a long day of driving, we wanted to go to our room and make arrangements for our next day and night of travel. Unfortunately, the Internet Wi-Fi was not available in the rooms. We would’ve had to go to the lobby and sit there, which we did not feel like doing at 9:30 at night, it was a pain not having that service. The staff was very nice especially the desk manager. She was there the night we got in and there first thing in the morning. Kudos to her for showing up for work when others don’t. The place is very dated, and the room had a funny smell to it. It needs extreme updating. Would not recommend.

Most of staff were pleasant and helpful with the exception of the dayshift clerk/mgr. Our room wasn't cleaned for 6 days we complained to night shift and he gave us clean towels/washclothes. On day 6 complained to morning clerk and she told us was supposed to be cleaned every 4 days and we were supposed to bring the dirty towels to the front desk to get clean ones. Told us it was on he paper in our room. I told her to show me on the paper where it said that! It didn't the paper said we were suppose to have a refresh every day. Beds made,towels replaced and trash removed. When we arrived the toilet was constantly running, i reported it to the front desk. Took 2 days for them to get to it after reporting it again. Door handle on main door didn't work properly. There wasn't a good selection for breakfast. There were a lot of knats in the breakfast area. The laundry room was out of order the whole time we were there. Internet was mostly non working. We left 2 nights early due to poor service but still charged for them. Would not recommend this hotel!

This was an Ok place to stay. The only reason we stayed here was to take a daughter to the pool on our way home. Hours listed on website 8-11. We tried swimming at 730 pm it’s closed. And was told by night worker opened at 8am. Didn’t open til 10. Front desk was rude about it too in the morning. No one seemed like they wanted to help.
Also when I asked for a bath stopper for our bath the lady said, looks like you’re
Outta luck since your room doesn’t have it.
Couldn’t even use the bathtub to give kids baths. The room was clean.
the elevator felt like a death trap.
Overall would not stay here again.

Staff was very nice and helpful. However, the hotel needs an update. I stayed two nights, and my sheets smelled like mildew. I asked housekeeping for new sheets, and request was not honored. I had no housekeeping during my stay.

Everything was clean and nice, only complaint is that the you could smell that the room had been smoked in, but unfortunately once that smell is in the room it's there to stay so there's not much to be done about it- and frankly most hotels in WV have been the same in my experience.
Check in staff was nice, helpful, and QUICK which I appreciated!

Great experience here!
I was hesitant to book based on some other reviews, but I am glad I took the chance. I had nothing but a great experience in all aspects. I stayed with my husband and toddler son as part of our longer road trip.
Front desk ladies and breakfast attendant were super nice and efficient. They gave us water and cookies when checking in. The room was clean and quiet. The shower pressure was awesome. Restaurants on both sides made walking to dinner easy. Parking was free and easy.
By far the best breakfast of any hotel I’ve stayed at in years, they literally had so many options, my husband was laughing at me because I was so amazed- 2 different omelets, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, biscuit and gravy, fresh cinnamon rolls, bagels, cereals, fresh fruit, tons of grab and go options and many drink selections. I really couldn’t believe it.
The only problems we encountered during our stay were barely issues- the resistance on the bike in the workout room was broken, and there were only 2 towels in our room and we needed more.
Would definitely stay here again without hesitation and look forward to it.

The room made up for other problems
Room was very comfortable and clean. Biggest complaint was the elevator. It was very slow and for 5 floors there was only one. Staff utilized the elevator and it was practically unusable in the morning due to Staff and cleaning/laundry carts. Needs to be updated with better elevators. We did not speak to the General Manager ourselves but we did hear her conversations with other guests and she tended to be a little rude and did not apologize for any problems that guests had she just blamed everything on the hotel being booked completely that is not an excuse. Breakfast was good and well stocked at all times.

Absolutely horrible rooms. The first room we got had something smash between the mattress and box spring. Went to the front desk and for a new room. The second room seemed better until we looked at the comforter and there were brown specks stained on the blanket. Went to desk again and just asked for a refund. Over a week later and still no refund. Do your self a favor and go to the holiday inn and suites in south Charleston

The room and property was very clean. My only complaint would be that the The lights from the parking lot and the Holiday Express sign light was shinning into the room. The drapes do not close to keep the light out while trying to sleep.

The closet door would not open so I could not get to the iron, the Wi-Fi was broken, There were 2 conditioners versus one shampoo and 1 conditioner in the bathroom, wallpaper was peeling off the wall in the bathroom, bed was OK but the pillows were awful but that's pretty standard in any hotel

The elevator was broken and our room was on the 5th floor. The faucet in the shower was broken and had no hot water. The did switch us rooms but I would have expected a discount rate

The sink in our room kept clogging up and we had little to no hot water for our showers. After a long drive you want to get a hot shower! The elevator was down which we understand things happen however we were put on the 3rd floor and had to commute the stairs.

This property is horribly mismanaged! Reservations completely messed up. We were originally assigned a room that was already occupied, others were told no room was available even though they had legitimate reservations, key fobs didn't work, sink was clogged, doors that were supposed to secure the property had bashed in door knobs, were left unlocked, or were propped open. Breakfast was a disaster. Bad food, no cups, forks, or napkins, no one attending to ensure the area stayed clean after other guests left messes behind. There were at least five staff people, including a manager, at the property in the morning, but only one of them was actually working, and the poor guy was left to contend with irate guests all morning by himself. Despite that, he maintained a good attitude and did his best to be helpful, so kudos to him! As for the rest of the crew, they all had horrible attitudes, hiding in the back so they wouldn't have to deal with complaints. Stay somewhere else!

I’m a dad with two young kids. On a trip. The hotel was unclean. The room wasn’t clean and the lady at the front desk said that that’s the only room abd didn’t even know weather it was clean or not. IT WASNT. Beer cans left from the last person that my 7year old found. The dirt spots on the bed sheets and blankets. The shower head was broken. When I went to the front desk and said I’ll only had one towel in the room for three of us. The lady said that all she has and gave us pool towels to us. The elevator was broken and had pack luggage and two kids up 4 flights of stairs with a bad knee.

During four night stay over 6 day period, no elevator, tvs did not work properly, no eggs at breakfast one morning, Staff tried to be help, but they had nothing to work with. No maintenance & no management in evidence.

My room had no heat, elevator wasnt working the second day, very limited breakfast, found dirty rags in a drawer and hanging in the bathroom, and when i went to check out computers were down. Front desk could not reach anyone to solve any problems, so they were very frustrated also.

I liked how it was in the middle of everything, shopping and dining. However, the tub in the bathroom did not drain while I was taking a shower, as well as the water wasn't very warm. We also found some dead bugs in the bathroom as well. The staff was very friendly and amenities were somewhat nice.

Toilet broke, no water during part of a day, morning breakfast staff unfriendly and unhelpful, no hot water to fix oatmeal or tea at breakfast, pool closed, very understaffed, trash bags and cleaning stuff sat in hallway for two days, very disappointing for a Holiday Inn. We arrived and the front desk gentleman was very nice. It was late so we just wanted to get to bed. We got in the room and there was garbage still in the trash can but I figured I’d address the next morning. The next morning I mentioned it and also mentioned we needed shampoo and soap since they gave us two conditioners and 1 small bar of soap. Arrived back late and trash still there and no shampoo. The next morning I mentioned it again and when we arrived back late no garbage taken or shampoo. The next day I requested clean towels and shampoo (I just happened to have a small bottle but principal at this point). I also mentioned the trash again. We got in late and no towels, no shampoo and no service to the room. When checking out he asked me how was everything and I told him not good. He gave me $25 back and to a CC I have no idea where that came from. Wants me to “come back” but they will need a lot of improvement for that to ever happen!

Due to the current employment conditions, this poor hotel was so understaffed. We arrived at 930pm after a long day of driving and were told they were still cleaning rooms and it would be a half hour. I do not blame them for this at all. The 2 staff cleaning were working their tails off. The front desk lady had dealt with so much abuse from complaining guests that she was just over it but was still kind and accommodating. However, once we got into a room, we were interrupted twice in the middle of the night with other guests trying to enter our room. (Our deadbolt was engaged). When I opened the door, both showed me they were given the same room number. That was frustrating because then I would have to deal with those irate guests who had waited for a room only to be given one that was occupied. Both times I told them to go back to the front desk. Both times they wanted to tell ME how upset they were.
That aside….The hotel itself was somewhat dated and worn, but clean and comfortable.

Don’t stay at a Holiday inn
Hotel was in need of repairs from drywall left unfinished in the hallways, dirty elevators, worn carpet in room and one of the stiffest mattresses I’ve ever slept on. Checked out a day early and the hotel would not refund me the day I did not stay. I will never stay at another Holiday. I am in a hotel 200-250 nights a year. The breakfast was also gross and a joke.

The rooms are pretty run down. No hot breakfast. The room was very hot when we arrived as the AC hadn't run in a long time. Paid for a suite with a kitchenette that was falling apart. Not worth the $230.

The location of this property is close to where family lives. The price is a little high but that's because there's other hotels but they are further away. There are plenty of restaurants in this area and shopping near by as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
