The room I stayed in was great but I did notice some dust in vents and had damage to some parts of the wall. They stated they were doing renovations so im sure that had something to do with it. Otherwise everything else was great, the area included restaurants nearby and a smaller casino on the next corner that was cool. So much to do around in the area.

Suite was nice, my 1st time downtown Chicago the weather was bad so could not get out do much. Breakfast was great and so was our stay. If I ever come back to Chicago I would stay here.

If your not ready to pay 50 bucks every time you need to leave the parking garbage don't stay here..thats for public parking and 70 bucks if you parking with the hotel....i woke up with my back hurting and restless because the bed frame was broken underneath.We told the front desk the next morning nobody ever came and fixed it and i paid 475.00 for my stay here never fu@@ing again...and then they told me to call expedia and tell them about the bed problem,like they are the ones to fix that problem whatever..I dont recommend

Staff was excellent, but when we arrived the room wasn’t completely adequate. There was leftover food from previous guests in the mini fridge and the bedroom lights didn’t turn on. It wasn’t really a deal-breaker, though.
I do believe it should have been mentioned upon reserving that the building is undergoing renovations.
Still, I would book again just for the service, great breakfast and happy hours.

Clean rooms, excellent location and always a nice breakfast. The pool wasn’t open due to a water line but they let us use a sister hotel‘s pool across the street. Parking is on sight but outrageous price of $79. We paid more for our car to stay there than we did for our family per person. And we have an electric car but there are no charging stations in the $79 garage!

We choose this hotel for the pool. It was closed. They offered a pool at a sister hotel. It was 9 degrees. We weren't likely to walk around in wet suits in that kind of weather.

The two women on the morning shift at the front desk were extremely discriminatory. They allowed “other “ non brown people to check in early. I was finally able to get a room at 3:30pm, although I was there since 9:00 am. Kudos to Abdul to came along and gave me a room with ease. The 2 women at the front desk provided awful customer service and need sensitivity
& diversity training on how to provide quality service to Black people!

Hotel room was old, filthy and dated. Room had not been cleaned properly. Bath tub was dirty. Soap with hair left from previous guest. Linens were visible dirty and contained hair from previous guest. Room at to be changed. 2nd room was downgrade with view of parking garage. Every morning at 07:00 awaken by trash truck emptying trash. Could here hotel guest in room next door via dirty vent in bathroom. Vent actually had dirty webs hanging down.

I wouldn't repeat it
I wouldn't repeat it, who thinks about remodeling at Christmas? Every morning at 9am a terrifying, unbearable and torturous noise began.
At check-in they tell you that they are remodeling and that there will be some noise, what they don't tell you is that they will wake you up and torture you with that noise every day of your family vacation.
Breakfast closes at 930am so get ready to get up early, don't go out at night and go to bed early because otherwise you'll miss it. In my case we were 4 people and I couldn't take advantage of it.
The truth is I felt cheated by this hotel, I didn't sleep well in 10 days.
The only saving grace is the location.

Decent food, stinky room
Stayed here with my 3 kids Jan of 2024. Rooms are dark and musty, with a terrible smell coming from the washroom drains. Beds and linens were clean, however. This place is in need of a renovation, for sure. The breakfast was decent, but the pool heater was broken.

We went during the renovation so I wouldn't recommend going during this time. If you are on a higher floor you will hear the noises from the workers renovating in the morning. The breakfast was pretty good. No complaints. When we called guest services because we needed something, there was a long wait. So I recommend just going to the front desk. When we turned the heat up it only warmed up the bedroom, not the living room. During the renovation the remote and telephone didn't work properly, so the maintenance man showed us how to use it if we needed something. I liked how the lobby was a different floor from the pool, workout room and evening reception. That eliminated so much traffic. The evening reception could've had more snacks, but the snacks they did have were decent. Any Embassy I've been to has always been clean, including this one. Both restaurants we went to were literally almost around the corner so I really liked that also. There are also little shops across the street. I would go back after the renovations are done.

Overpriced for a mediocre experience.
Hotel rooms are in massive need of repair, which has started on the top floors. There was no bath fan in the bathroom so every time anyone showered the whole place was full of steam and no ventilation led to the room not smelling great very quickly. The beds were awful. So uncomfortable. Room was not very clean, there was garbage under the beds. The pool pictures did not depict how small the pool area and pool was, no hot tub. The common areas were nice and public bathrooms. Breakfast was good, lots of options. Location was really good for being close to everything. Staff was not super helpful, when we checked in they didn’t tell us about using our room key so we went up and down the elevator several times before someone told us what was going on. And then the day we left the cleaning lady was camped outside our room at nine waiting for us to leave and check out wasn’t until 11. Felt very pressured and at one point she just went in our room assuming we were done. Then flagging us down telling us we forgot stuff. Very unprofessional and rude. If your booking on hotel.com read the fine print about all the added cost of wifi, valet parking ect. Thought we had a nice deal but ended up being extremely expensive for such a mediocre experience.

For the most part we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast options were great and the dining staff was very friendly and courteous. Great customer service. However, the room itself was in disrepair. The table was broken and not stable, the sofa bed was very dirty and the mattress was very flat and squeaky. Coils in the mattress was broken and the under side of the mattress was rusty and gross. The lighting was dark and dingy. The hotel is undergoing some much needed renovations and the staff was great. The location was convenient and within walking distance to places we wanted to go. I would stay again after the renovations are complete.

**UNDER (LOUD) CONSTRUCTION**
For some reason - even though they were probably operating at 40% occupancy - they put me on the floor below the floor where construction was taking place. After breakfast I tried to work from my room, and the noise was deafening - the work was being done in the room above mine! I called to complain, and no one did anything. When I checked out a few hours later I asked to speak to a manager so I wouldn't have to leave this public review, but s/he wasn't available; I left my phone number but never received a call.

I usually don’t write reviews, but as a mother of 2 kids this place is perfect for families!!!! I loved the separate room area! Indoor pool, complimentary breakfast and later snacks I mean you can’t go wrong! We travel a lot, besides staying in condos this has it all!

Beware of renovations
This was our second time staying at this hotel and we loved so many things about our first stay, but this time around was a much different experience. Serious renovations are going on making it extremely noisy from about 9-4. One day. We were told we would not have water from 9-3. We had terribly noisy neighbors and the pull out bed felt like we were sleeping on rocks. The mezzanine is too notch and they offer free breakfast and a happy hour that is really fun, but we will be choosing g elsewhere next time.

The first room we were given was dirty. They gave us a new room with a city view as compensation for the dirty room. In the new room one lamp had a burned out light bulb, toilet leaked, and two of the charging outlets were broken and did not work. We were not notified that the property was under construction and after arriving at midnight our first night, we were awoken by construction that consisted of drilling so loud we couldn’t even have a conversation in our room. We were never given our happy hour cards (just told to go to the second floor during certain hours) only to get there and find out we were never given cards. The only good thing about this hotel is it’s location in River North.

Chicago at Christmas
Common areas are nice and mostly clean. Hotel is currently undergoing a renovation and it’s easy to see why. The furniture is old and fallling apart. Even had a tile falling off in the shower. Lots of dust under the bed. That said, the rooms are spacious and the staff was accommodating and the location is great. I would stay here again, esp after the improvements are made.

Children allowed to run around all over the place without supervision made it somewhat disturbing. At breakfast, two children were climbing on the table and it appeared very dangerous because it was over the mezzazine stairs

If you need a pool, not this hotel
I booked 2 rooms and ended up with only 1 room. The pool heat didnt work, so the water was freezing. Breakfast would of been great if it had flavor to it. Lots to pick from so was greatful for the fresh fruits. I asked why we only had 1 room and they said the computers had crashed. We talked with 6 other people who all had the same problem with not getting what the had booked. No discount was offered just told book another hotel or come back and see if there was any cancelation. Its not letting me add photos

The property is being renovated which it desperately needs. We did have bugs in one room, another room had a broken tv and only cold water at one sink. Our third room the microwave was not working. The hotel did try to help us and mostly the hotel was lovely. The pool had a soggy floor inside the water. I would go back once the renovation was complete.

The lady at the check-In desk was unbelievably rude. I believe her name was Leilany. The first time I was like maybe she's just having a moment or a day. But after multiple interactions, she was just as rude as the first time. It's unfortunate as the rest of the staff at the hotel was great. Just sad when your first encounter at the hotel is with a staff member that's rude. Not very welcoming.

I was charged a deep cleaning fee for “smoking” but I did not smoke in my room at all. I smoked outside and came back in. Also there were hidden fees that was not disclosed to me.

The bed was so uneven that it felt like we were sleeping downhill. I woke up with headaches every morning due to my feet being higher than my head. Makes for a tough vacation when you don’t get much sleep.

Worn and sad
We’ve stayed at this hotel several times before. This year, the hotel was worn and sad. The first room we were given smelled horribly of mold. We were given another room. The list of non working items was crazy, the light above the bedroom sink was out, a lamp in the living room didn’t work, the safe had a low battery, the phone in the living room didn’t have a cord, the remotes didn’t work and the table was very shaken, it felt like it was about to collapse. When we arrived, we were told the water was shut off for most of the day. We know you are under renovation, but we should have been alerted before the stay and the price of the room should have been adjusted.

This hotel was a huge hit with my family. Located right downtown it was in a busy area, but when you were inside, you wouldn’t guess. The room was fairly average, but my favorite feature was the mezzanine. So beautiful and open. The free breakfast was huge and included a full omelette station alongside cold and hot breakfast options. I would also add that it had a large and well appointed gym. We loved our stay and are already thinking about the next one.

Our room had no security lock on it and the bathroom door looked like it was kicked in at the previous stay. Looked like they tried to glue and place back together but the door never shut correctly. The thermostat was also not working correctly. Very hot no matter if you went up and down on thermostat. We were in room 913. Obviously a fight was in that room and was not cleaned and made to look presentable. I have pictures if you want to see

My door lock stoop working and I could not access my room on the day we were set to check out. My family and I went down for breakfast and could not access our room. I spoke to the manager and she apologized, called maintenance and it took him 20 minutes to come and he couldn’t get fix it so he had to call another guy to come and replace the battery in the lock which took some time. I spoke to the supervisor again to express how inconvenient the whole situation was and she stated the best she could do was to give me a noon check out . My wife pointed out to me that check out was up until noon anyway and it was posted in guest services that you can access on the tv in our room. Not a happy camper.

The rooms are definitely dated. I noticed several places that were not cleaned/have not been cleaned for a while in our room. Rooms ending in 29 don’t have the little suite that most rooms have, so be mindful of that. What stood out the most was that I was double charged. I booked through Expedia and paid in full. Once I checked out of the hotel, Embassy Suites charged me $500 as well. I called to get it reversed with them. When they refunded me, it was still ~$25 short of what they owed me.
If you choose to stay here, be mindful of credit card activity through the hotel.

BE AWARE: The $79 parking turned into $159 at checkout because of fees/taxes. Was told they ususally let people know that...no one told me!!! Pullout couch was uncomfortable, but actual bed was very comfortable. Neither phone in the room worked.was told it would be fixed, but it wasn't.

Heater didn't work properly, shower knob was jammed, 1 of 2 phones didn't work, room had signs of wear and tear, food crumbs were in the pullout sofa, 1of 2 tv controllers didn't work properly.

I reserved a suite for 6 people. Fortunately some of group didn’t make the trip. If they had the rooms they gave us would not have accommodated us. We ended up giving them back one of the replacement rooms because it didn’t work for our family. All that was offered for our inconvenience was 50 bucks off our bill. Completely unacceptable and ridiculous.

Getting worse
The accessible shower was broken this hotel used to be much nicer but they put less care into maintaining the rooms. Check-in line was way too long they should’ve had someone else helping out. Drinks were not as good in last and waffles were like rubber.
