Pros:
* View from room was excellent
* Room had sofas, coffee table, small refrigerator
* Front desk lady was nice and offered drinking water bottles
Cons:
* Plumbing issue - water was not draining from rest room sink. we couid not use the sink for tooth brushing, face washing, hand washing etc. It was very inconvenient. The problem was reported to front desk, but the answer was it can not be fixed before next day. I was offered for a different room but I did not take it as I was staying for only 30 hours and was leaving after 4/5 hours of reporting it. When the room was given as ready, rest room things should rechecked thoroughly that it is working perfectky
* Microwave machine and coffee machine were quite low quality
* There were coffee, but no cream, milk, sugar in the room
* Sofa was there, but they looked kinda old
* Room key cards were not working multiple times. I had to go to front desk multiple time for reset

Wonderful place to stay and bring fur baby!
Amazing place. Great views and affordable also pet friendly so we could bring our fur baby with us. Will definitely be back!

C chicken was easy probably open the door on the boardwalk. The beds weren’t pleasant smelling location was to die, for the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Bed bugs
There were bed bugs so we decided to leave and not even stay the night. We went to the front desk and asked for a refund because we did not stay the night and left after a couple of hours. They offered another room but bed bugs spread very easily and if we had been infested by it, we could easily spread it to the new room. This is not how you handle a bed bug case.

Room was clean enough. Very old and outdated. Toilet clogged up and extremely loud neighbors. Kids banging on walls or jumping on the bed at 2am. But if you're looking for cheap this is your place. You get what you pay for

Do NOT STAY HERE
Got checked in and was given a room that was getting worked on, and instead of a king bed they gave me 2 doubles which wasn’t ideal as a couple staying in a room for 4 nights. Get to the room and the mini fridge was so loud, and you there were times that you could hear the water running throughout the hotel (pipes), which made for an *excellent* nights sleep…
After brushing my teeth the first night, we noticed the water wasn’t draining in the sink, which really isn’t a huge issue but just continued to add to the inconveniences that were piling up at this hotel. On Saturday while we were about to head to dinner, we noticed 2 COCKROACHES on the ground while putting our shoes on. I didn’t see any for the rest of our stay, but that didn’t really help us sleep at night. I would have left right then, but every hotel was over double the price per night at that point.
After 4 nights of a less than enjoyable stay, I looked at my card statement to see I was charged an addition $80 for… not sure what? Regardless, I will get the charge expunged from my account, especially considering no reasoning for the charge was disclosed to me, the customer.
I thought I was being frugal by staying here, but there’s a myriad of reasons that this hotel is so cheap. Don’t EVER stay here. Ever. Pay the extra for a nicer stay elsewhere, because who knows, they may just charge you extra anyways!

Better than anticipated, I would stay here again.
The hotel overall is what i would best bang for the buck. The room was clean and everything was operational. The windows looking out to the beach were not squeeky clean, but not to bad. Its in a great location. On the beach, restaurants and stores were within very close proximity.

Location and views... but bed bugs!
It was just a one-night stay for us on our trip to VA Beach, definitely, the boardwalk and the view were awesome. And it was overall clean and all was there. The check-in was nice and easy.. But! This is the first time we encountered bed bugs. That's just disgusting. The furniture looks tired overall so I'd not recommend this location before it gets through proper pest control service.

The location is great - right on the boardwalk. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and accommodating. The price is right! Everything we needed was within walking distance.

The room itself is spacious and had a balcony with a view of the beach. But the bathroom is very old and the water pressure was not great. All the furniture was outdated and the curtains needed cleaning. However the sheets and towels were clean despite being pretty rough quality. This is more of a "motel" and the resort fees they charged provided nothing. Overall everything needed repair/maintenance but the front desk lady was polite and helpful. The location is great but that's all you're getting.

Get a tetanus shot. Too bad, Location was great. But that is the only good thing. Spend the money and hire proper professionals you could have a diamond of a place. I would not recommend this place to my enemies.

The hotel is older and it shows but even still the leak in the bathroom, the black mold around the crevices of the tub, a severely weathered door to the patio making that door difficult to open, and aged dinged furniture seem to the standard upkeep a hotel should particiate in. It was i suppose clean in terms of the sheets, beds and floors but the leaking in the bathroom we couldnt determine if it was toilet or shower and black mold stains on the shower curtain did not make us feel like it was the most sanitized room.
The staff were friendly and efficient the rooms are all ocean view, we did get the 2 beds, microwave, and mini fridge/freezer as promised.
Its just mediocre at best.

Shabby without the chic
First, the positives: great location right on the boardwalk; the (double) beds were comfortable, the room was surface clean, and they allow dogs. The pool looked clean and nice. Now the not so good: the older woman at the desk was very rude, acting as though I greatly inconvenienced her when I asked what the amount was when she asked for my credit card. There was a $30 charge per dog, per night, which I never saw in the information (twice what we pay for boarding). The door was very hard to open; I was told to just kick it. The small fridge freezer was so frozen over it decided to defrost itself, causing water to leak out and me to slip and fall. One of the headboards fell off the bed. The ceiling was peeling, and paint job was incomplete. The gardens were neglected. With a little TLC and better customer service, much of this could be better. I'm no snob, and my favorite hotel is at another beach, with a funky, shabby-chic decor. This was shabby, without the chic.

A disgusting dump!
This was the most disgusting hotel I have ever visited. The sofa was ripped and had bloodstains. It was dirty and run down. The picture in the ad is not reality. It was so bad and so gross, that we left ten minutes after check in. We requested our money back since we would not stay and were refused a refund. This hotel is a dump, gross scam. Beware!!!!!

I like proximity to beach. Parking spaces not made for full-size Pickup. Had to park in driveway. Small table, chairs, & lamp in room was moved to clean & left pushed up against window/curtain. I didn’t touch or use it. Pricy for a run down room. Would not come back.

Warning!
WARNING!! If you have any problems (like we did!), the hotel has no staff through the night and until 8 am in the morning. The visit was fine and we had a great view of the sunrise in the morning. However, on our last morning we went out the back door of our room (ocean side) to watch the sunrise and took our room key. But when we got back to the room, the room key didn't work anymore. We went to the front office to exchange it for a new key only to find the front office closed. We called the emergency number printed on the door but nobody answered. We were locked out of our room without our wallets or car keys for over an hour until the office opened at 8 am. I feel this is poor management and will not stay at Ocean 27 again. I was a little concerning that if this had happened at night, we could have been locked out of our room with no ability to find a new room the whole night.

To the question, what did I like, I will answer "proximity to the beach". That is all there was to like. To the question, what made this place unique, I will answer, "nothing that makes a visitor want to return or recommend". To the question, would I stay again, I will answer, "only if I were paid to".

The property is poorly maintained. The Expedia picture of the room is a complete misrepresentation. Only double beds. The towels are small, hairdryer fell off the wall, and trash cans were dirty. Trash and litter visible on the beach side.

My favorite thing was the sundeck.
This hotel is right on the boardwalk and in a very convenient place. We were able to walk to almost everything we wanted to do. The room was comfortable and clean, although the bathroom could use some updating. The staff were friendly and helpful. I especially loved that they had a sundeck bedside the pool and another one on the second floor overlooking the pool area. We will definitely stay again.

They gave us the ground floor which had a mini outside patio with minimal beach view & without privacy, we were expecting a balcony as described in the hotel description. The bathroom had mold on the ceilings. There were bugs in the bed. The room was super noisy. The fridge was dirty. We are very unsatisfied with this experience with expedia.

The property and rooms look like they haven’t been updated since the 80’s.
If you’re going to VA Beach for 1-2 nights, looking for something affordable, and don’t plan on spending much time in the room this is the spot for you. The bed/bedding was clean. The light in our room was broken and so was the patio furniture. Everything was just very obviously worn out and outdated. But, it served our needs just fine. The restaurant next door played live music which was nice to listen to while out on the patio. Great location—close to everything. Ocean view rooms. Friendly staff.

We got bed bugs and they wouldnt refind anything. There was mold and woke up covered in bites. See my google review fircthe photis because it was absolutely disgusting. Between this and the rental, this vacation just cost me everything i had.

Don't Stay Here!
When I arrived on my birthday, August 25th, 2023 the place was very dirty. When I went to the room, there were stains on the bed covers. People were lying on the ground around the building. My girlfriend could not believe what we saw. I went to the front desk and told him there is no way I'm staying here. He said I booked through a third party so it's nothing he could do. Later I found out he changed me for 2 nights for a total over $820. I want all my money back!

Rundown and FALSE advertising. We've been staying here for almost 18 years and this property has gone down. Property grounds are not being kept up. Offer free bikes (website states it still) but tried to charge. Then said bikes were inoperable. Yet, left bikes out and STILL tried to charge our other friends staying there for use of nikes. Free Internet lasted for 2 days and didn't get fixed till almost checkout 2 days later. 2 of the 4 rooms booked had iced over fridges. Every patio was full of trash and cigarette butts and weeds so tall, you had to pull them out to even walk out to the grass. Front desk was alerted, at the time, to everything but said they'd notify management.
Manager tried to claim she wasn't management to avoid any accountability for the situation. She refused to acknowledge or accept the many mishaps that occurred and said it was a lie. This used to be one of the best family owned and friendliest small hotels oceanfront. We've encouraged countless families to stay here for almost 2 decades now ..Including this stay, 4 rooms, of which 3 were booked for 4 days. We will never recommend this hotel until its ran by competent people.

Property had MOLD. Rug was dirty. My husband and I had to squeeze ourselves into two small beds.
I originally booked for one day...when I tried to make reservation for another day. the attendant tried to gouge me eventhough We are Veterans, AAA and AARP members.

The location was perfect, and the staff were really nice, but the building and installations were in bad conditions they have some broken things and stains in the bathrooms....if you go there do not spect something nice, but really convenient.

Rooms were unkept, when down to a hilton down the road for a few dollars more.did not stay at ocean 27 left immediatley. Would really like all my money back. I trust and use teavelocity alot and this place was not as advertised.

We were disappointed with the fee for early check in. Even though the room was ready. Thank you for giving us a ground floor room. The location is great but the surrounds of the hotel are really dirty and run down. The towels for the room were thin and small. The pool towels were stained with what looked like fake tan. The mattresses were too soft. Basically the hotel is old and tired and needs either a total overhaul or demolition. Location is all it has.

Where do I begin, I came to property late and checked in upon going up to my room the room was filthy and I mean filthy as an understatement. The tub was dirty and rusted all out the bathroom was like it had not been cleaned in weeks and the bed sheets well, they had stains and spots all over them like they had also not been changed. Upon bringing this up to the front desk, he proceeded to show me three other rooms that were dirtier then the first, needless to say 45 mins later I finally went back to the same room. Next morning upon asking to speak to a manager they proceeded to argue with me saying they showed me other rooms and were willing to switch me only for them to be missing the big picture here, the filthy room I was in was probably the cleanest one they had, then she finally agreed to send housekeeping up in the afternoon to change my sheets on the last day, no help , no service no management and absolutely do not recommend this place to even my worst enemy, the place is down right filthy and needs a complete renovation period, I asked for some compensation for the filth and no one ever responded to me !!! If I could give it a half a star I would

Dirty and Scamming
This is a dirty horrible hotel. It should be shut down. Upon opening the doors to our room we saw insects, bed stains and tub stains.
The front desk staff ignores complaints and will charge fees with out carrying.
For our own health, we left immediately and took the hotel’s charges.
Don’t stay here.

The staff was so friendly and nice. We arrived a few hours early before check in and they allowed us to park before check in. We needed maintenance to unlock our walk out door because we locked it and he came so fast and was super helpful. The room was clean and better than expected. The only thing I'd say I would say is maybe some better landscaping and upkeep of the grounds where the balconies are, especially the first floor. The bushes in front of our walk out ocean view had a lot of cigarette butts and unsightly things in the grass. But that ultimately has nothing to do with the room, the room itself was a good location, amazing staff and great view. I would stay again.

This place is disgusting. The bathroom wallpaper was stapled to the wall, and the photos looked nothing like what we stayed in. Nothing looked clean; the shower had black mold. Do not stay here.

I requested 1st floor twice on Expedia due to being disabled and there not being any elevators on property and the request didn’t get forwarded to Ocean 27. It was a surprise when I arrived for check in and fortunately there was 1 room available on the 1st floor and I was able to get it. Other than that, the hotel was great for the money and will definitely be back the next time I’m in town.

In & around tub didnt look clean. My family showered in sandals during our stay. The freezer was covered in thick ice like it's never been defrosted. The fridge was dirty/gross inside. There were fruit flies in the room upon arrival. Bathroom sink was clogged upon arrival. I told the front desk, and 3 people came "to fix" the sink and were there for 5mins or so and just left without saying anything while we were on the balcony and sink was never unclogged.
The only thing we really liked about the stay was the fact that our room was oceanfront. It was not worth the price we paid AT ALL. It should've been a $60 stay, not $300+.

The hotel is on the first line. pet friendly -that is all. The room was ok, but the window was very dirty, the bathroom has to be renovated, the A/C couldn't cool enough. During the stay nobody cleaned the room and changed the towels. The lady at the front desk was very rude. The swimming pool was dirty and the guests had to clean - unbelievable. No enough parking space. Don’t waste your money. It is very expensive place for all these “luxuries”.

Room was clean, hallway, stairwell not clean. very few amenities, coffee packets no sugar or cream. Room furniture needs updating. This hotel has three stories but no elevators,which you don't find out about until after you have booked and paid for the non-refundable room. It was a ocean front room which was nice. I would not stay here again

As soon as we walked in flys flew out. There were bugs crawling around and and mass of nets in the window. The tenant was very rude and refuse to put me in another room. I ended up jus leaving after about 10 min taking a loss. It wasn’t worth the arguement. Worst hotel I’ve ever experienced

There were 2 long black hairs on the shower curtain and other hair on wall area of the shower when i arrived in room. Font desk he advised he would come clean it. He advised being short staffed but stated room had been cleaned only cleaned thst was missed.

Motel not Hotel!!
This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. For one this isn’t even a hotel it’s a motel with old motel ambiance. The pictures shown on the site look nothing like the rooms in person. When we arrived and checked into the room, I immediately requested a refund. The man at the front desk agreed to give me a 1 night refund because I had already checked in. All the other hotels were sold out or charging $800 a night because of the festival. The rooms were dark with terrible lighting, smell of dirty carpet, half of everything was rusted, the shower curtain had mold stains, the bathroom ceiling fan was so dusty, the toilet was dirty. The owner parks their car in the driveway so you can’t access the parking lot if someone pulls in and parks to check in. I can say the bed and towels were clean and view of the ocean was nice but this isn’t it. It needs remodeling bad!
