People live there, so there was a lot of kids crying and people banging on walls, or floors at all hours. Couldn't really rest. Outside looks nice, but inside is another story.

False advertising!
I recently stayed at the Econo Lodge for business. When I reserved this room I was under the impression they offer wi-fi access and free breakfast. This is important so I could get work done in my room and grab a quick breakfast before my workday (both were advertised on the website). When I checked in, there was a note saying they no longer offered breakfast and I could not find wi-fi in my room making it difficult to get any work done. I was also directed to the back of the building to find my room, which turns out was basically outside (like a motel). The pictures on the website were very deceiving and I did not feel totally safe having my room lead to the outdoors without any barriers for non-guests to just walk in. The room overall seemed clean at first except for a smoke scent in parts of my room. The first night I went to take a shower I saw a used bar of soap in the shower and an empty shampoo bottle on the counter suggesting that the bathroom was not wiped down (and made me wonder if the toilet or other parts of the room were even cleaned).The next morning when I left the gentleman at the front desk, who is supposed to be monitoring the doors, was sleeping which made me feel even less safe. I will not be staying here again.

Absolutely the worst place we have seen. We didn’t even stay the night. It was not safe. There was no bolt on the door. The beds had dirt and dead bugs on it. The area was unkept and there were drug paraphernalia laying about. We couldn’t even stay the night we had kids. We were only checked in for MAYBE a hour

It baffles me to no end how hotels can charge the public top dollar for a two star hotel.
The room was clean to the eye but at some point it needs a deep cleaning.
I am still wounding why there is no communication between housekeeping staff and the maintains person.
Both lamps loose from the base, hot water valve on bathroom sink leaking, toilet set loose.
I am paying $180.00 a night, I want all that stuff fixed and working.

Dirty, sofa bed broken, paid for 3 areas to sleep got 2 and no sheets for sofa bed. I guess at 11 PM after traveling I was supposed to ask for them. No I should be able to sleep comfortably with what I paid for in the room already. Even if sheets were in there sofa bed was broken. Condom wrappers under bed, floors made our socks FILTHY. No breakfast and free Wi-Fi is only in the front office not in your room. Never again, just pay the extra 100 bucks and stay somewhere that is not a drug hotel. Complete false advertising. People and children yelling and screaming all night. The lady who checked me was nice other then that the staff is not very nice and the cleaning lady stared us down like she wanted to fight us. No thanks, forget trying to budget and stay in a nice clean hotel with amenities this place is not where you want to be.

Legitimately the worst experience at a hotel I've ever had in my life. If you are tempted by the low price tag DON'T BE.
Arrived for check-in and no one was at the front desk. Waited over 30 minutes before they finally showed up.
No breakfast as advertised.
Room smelled so strongly of smoke that I felt sick and had to leave early; I ended up sleeping at the airport instead.
The cleanliness was astounding...Hairs in the beds, HOLES in the walls, the mirror in the bathroom shattered. It was stunning - Not in a good way!
Dangerous area - Feels extremely unsafe. This is emphasized when talking to the receptionist through bullet-proof glass. Very shady clientele.
Contacted them after I left early for all of this through Expedia, and they lied to them and told them I rejected a different room they offered. However, they never offered me another room. They refused to refund. I'm proceeding through my credit card company instead.
PLEASE, if you are considering this place, simply DON'T. Save yourself, your lungs, and your soul. Go literally anywhere else.

Relatively cheap place - although definitely lower level. Great if you plan to visit Boston - buy a commuter pass that gives you unlimited rides (daily or weekly), take bus 108, 430, or 411 from right across the hotel and go to Mladen station where you get the subway. Takes around an hour to get downtown - a bit more when you return. Free parking at the hotel.

Dirty, False Advertising, No breakfast including like mention. Even if they had breakfast they don’t even have a real lobby area, never mind a cafe.
Poor customer service at the front desk and rude. I will never stay there again.

I had a 3 night stay the 3rd day i asked if i leave early around 3 pm if i can get a refund front desk said no but we still left.the lobby was disgusting very dirty my son didn't want to stay there but we had no choice.

Pretty good
Check-in and check-out were fast and the staff was friendly. The property appears to have been renovated recently and my room was very big and comfortable. During the renovation the exposed walkways to the rooms must have been walled in, and rather awkwardly, so that the AC units for the room vent hot air into the now-covered space. It's a but uncomfortable to pass through but really who's hanging out there for very long? A metro stop is a short drive/ long walk from the hotel. Overall, it was very comfortable and convenient.

If you wanted to stay one night that’s fine but any more then that would not be good. I got a smoking room, I would never have booked, but they didn’t have any other rooms available. I had an air freshener with me so that helped some. The hair dryer in the room didn’t work . I told staff and nothing was done about it. Th housekeeping staff did a good job with my room , but you can only do so much.

Rooms smell like old stale cigarettes. I asked to change rooms and the new room smelled too. WIFI exists but you can't stream, can't really do anything. I knew it was going to be a cheap hotel but the rooms shouldn't smell like an old ashtray and the wifi should work.

Upon arrival the clerk was super friendly, assigned our room and we were then informed by a posted note that breakfast was no longer included with our stay. Upon arriving at our room the door was already open. Entering the room there was a lingering smoke smell in our non smoking room, and the door would not remain closed. We had to wedge a chair against the door for the night to keep it securely closed as the lock was broken as well.

low budget but a lil creepy
maybe for the price paid i should’ve known better, it was the cheapest in town and i just wanted to save a hundred dollars because i was only there for 10 hours total, but as soon i pulled up i wanted to leave and would’ve, even without a refund if it wasn’t so late. the lighting in the pictures make it look a lot better and cleaner then it actually is. bed frame makes noise and lots of hairs on sheets. the fan motor n the bathroom is super loud. all that to say i slept well, but if my husband wasn’t with me i would’ve been creeped out staying by myself.

The pictures on the website are not indicative of the actually rooms. They put us in a smoking room being non-smokers. I am a seasoned business traveler and in 30 years never booked a smoking room. Asked for a refund because we didn’t even stay. We went to the airport and waited to midnight and drove 2 hrs home.

The property is not anything like what is shown in the pictures. It is old, outdated and dirty. Amenities shown included breakfast and they did not have any. None. Even if they had I would not eat from there. Would never recommend this one to anyone.

Not so good for the price
They offer breakfast but once you get to the hotel , there is a sign that stated that due to covid there is no breakfast but is not updated in the website. Cleanliness was not so good,.someone had vomited by the stairs and it was there for about two days without being cleaned.

We asked for a non-smoking room, however both the first room we were given and the room we relocated to smelled strongly of cigarettes. Rooms overall were shabby and run down. When confronted about it, staff were verh rude. Dirt and grime was all over, and sheets were clearly still dirty from precious residents. Furniture was scratched up and falling apart. Worst of all, BREAKFAST WAS ADVERTISED BUT THERE WAS NONE! THIS IS A SCAM. Dont trust what you see online when booking!

We selected from a list of available places that offered breakfast. Instead of any kind of snacks or breakfast was a sign that said, "for COVID considerations to keep our guests safe we will not be providing any breakfast." We were told there was a place very close down the street that served breakfast and lunch, we walked a block or two in that direction and still couldn't find it. There may have been a place about a half mile, but my wife (due to accident) cannot walk that far. The place could use some renovation also. The bathroom door scraped along the floor, hard to open and close.

For the price of $123/night, I was robbed. The room had roaches, the smell of cigarettes came through our non-smoking room, and there weren’t any amenities. Wifi was weak and rooms were not as nice as pictured. We will not be staying there again.

It was fine in a pinch
It was a small, clean room. I thought it was fine. The walls are thin, and there is some noise from people next door or in the hallway. But it seemed they all went to bed by midnight. My room was next to the parking lot, so I heard a lot of noise coming from the lot, but not too bad. The rest of the night was fine. It was inexpensive, and I needed a room in a rush, so it was fine.

The room was clean overall, but the sheets in the sofa looked like they were used and not changed. The room's (140) walls were scratched but clean. However, the hotel has probably a pest problem, because we found a mouse (alive) behind the refrigerator. Immediately demanded to have another room, but the guy at the front desk didn't want to believe me, util he came to my room and actually took a picture of the mouse. Then he gave us another room, but the room smelled like tobacco. Bad experience.

Room was mostly clean, but there was a random french fry in the microwave. The shower curtain rod was almost falling down and a shelf in the bathroom was broken and even something light placed on it would have broken it. Plus the fire detector battery was junk and it started beeping our last morning there which was really annoying.

The gentleman who was working was incredible. Kind, conscientious and patient. I hadn't stayed at a place where smoking rooms were an option in many years - the cigarette smell was pervasive, and I could smell it in my non-smoking room. I could have sworn it was coming up from the sink in the first room I was in. The gentleman said it was the disinfectant and cleaner used to disinfect the room. I recall smelling a disinfectant once that smelled like cigarette smoke to me... he kindly moved me to another room, which was better. I guess it's just hard to not have cigarette smoke in your space and environment at a place where there are smoking rooms. I am not criticizing the smokers. it just makes sense for me to stay at a non smoking motel.

It was not like the pictures made it seem. On the last day the sheets came off and there was a cigarette burn mark on the mattress protector and the mattress. The outside area was anxiety inducing and you can hear other people from the room.

Roaches and more
There were roaches. We were there for 5 minutes while we brought up our stuff, went to dinner at tue pizza place across the street, and came back. We were in the room for literally less than 90mins when we saw roaches crawling across the dresser/tv stand. The staff was rude and disrespectful. I spoke with some other customers who were also trying to check out because of the poor, squalid conditions of the entire facility. One of them got squished in the hide-a-bed in the couch because it snapped closed with her in it! The place was an absolute shambles and looked like something out of a horror movie to be honest. Yes, we came to Salem area for spooky fun, but that doesnt mean I want to be afraid to even enter my hotel room. We also asked for a non smoking room and it had clearly been smoked in. Parts of the floor were missing, and there were clear black marker scribbles on the wall. The place was not kept up or cared for at all. The place smelled and was clearly in bad condition. This place should be condemned. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and with the department of consumer protection because this was deplorable. It was absolutely ridiculous.

The room was very dirt , the bathroom had hair all over the toilet seat ,all over the floor and tub and their was even blood on the wall. The sheets had stains on it and the walls were dirt and the celling was fall . It was bad I check out same day and when to different hotel . It was horrible experience I don’t recommend

My family stayed here while we toured colleges. Our bathroom was in bad shape. The outlet was dangerous and there was a lot of long black hair throughout. None of us have black hair. There was never enough towels and washcloths. The bathroom also smelled like weed. The mattress was on a metal platform which was noisy.

No Breakfast and terrible parking!
First, they advertise the room as including Continental Breakfast on hotels.com. Booking 2 rooms with 5 kids, that was one of the deciding factors when booking a hotel. It is even advertised in their hold music when we called them to ask about check-in time. Well, they continue to advertise breakfast to get you to book, then they don't notify you until you arrive for check-in, with a sign at the front desk stating that due to Covid they are not providing it.
One night there was NO parking spots (and several people waiting for a spot), and the front desk told us to just block the entrance to the dumpster. Even if you are lucky enough to find a spot, they are ridiculously small (very difficult to open your doors to get out).
The room itself was as expected, nothing fancy but mostly clean. While I realize I booked an Econo Lodge and I was not expecting a five star stay, it was VERY expensive for what we got, especially with falsely advertising breakfast!

There was no breakfast served despite the add saying so. The reason was due to Covid but all other hotels have resumed breakfast after 2 years later. The staff was very dismissive and not the most polite. The room was uniquely small as in there was no table to place things on, play a game of cards, eat, etc. The bathroom was so compact that my feet were practically in the tub when sitting on the toilet. The tub was slippery and no friction- very easy for anyone especially kids to fall. No counter space in the bathroom. Definitely NOT worth the price

I was very disappointed with the room. It is not what we booked. No, 55 inch tv on the wall. The bed was a full and not a queen. I opened the drawer below the microwave and ot was dirty. Burns in the sheet. Got, locked out of our room the next day . All in all I was very dissatisfied with the room.

The hotel itself was clean and our room was cleaned daily which is something some places don’t always do since Covid. The hotel was packed and it seems nobody know how to hold a door so it closes lightly. I can’t hold that part against the hotel though.
there are a few things I CAN be upset with them about. First, they called me the day of check-in to inform me my card was declined. This annoyed me (and the woman checking in after us) because I had selected pay at hotel as the payment option when booking. The person at the counter informed me that their system “auto-authorizes” all cards at 4pm and they needed payment. Since I was using another card, they said they would add a note. I then called a few hours later to let them know we would be checking in close to midnight, the person that and swerved insisted on a card while I was on the phone. I’ve used the pay at hotel option quite a few times and never run into this.
My next issue was that for over 3 months I had a reservation for a king bed room and when we walked into the room, it was two double beds. My wife and I usually need two beds when we travel with the kids so when we travel alone (which is very rare), I always get a king bed. I verified on the website that I had indeed reserved a king bed, so I went to talk to the desk person. He just told me that they were sold out and he didn’t have the king room available so we would just have to take what they had. I have more to say but I’m at the character limit.

Got in at 1230am,check in smooth and easy called ahead as we were running late from flight delay.
Got in room ceiling was leaking-went back to front desk and was told it happens when it rains and to put a bucket under drip. Ceiling was sagging and had minimal sleep from the drip. Also concerned ceiling would collapse with the sag as it was pulling away from joist.

Horrible. I knew it wasnt going to be great by the reviews but boy was i in for a rough experience. I immediatly had sketchy vibes when they scanned both mine and my company's ids, as well as my debit card. I got a extra charge on my card which put it in the negatives. My pillow was covered in brown stains. My keycard kept deactivating and the doors wouldn't properly close. Disgusting and horrible.

An inexpensive hotel that's trying to move up.
This is a fairly schizophrenic property. It obviously was a very low budget motel. The walkways have been enclosed which I'm sure is great in winter, but means there's no way to open the window without letting in the smells of the walkway. And apparently that's where people go to smoke weed, so don't open that window! Our friend's room smelled strongly, ours was clean and pleasant (unless we opened the door).
It was updated: nice platform beds with decent mattresses, clean and functional plumbing, enough outlets for modern electronics (2 computers, two phones and a white noise machine). The composite flooring had lifted a couple of places and was duct taped down! Linens and towels were clean and there was enough soap and shampoo. Front entrance looked more like an hourly hotel than a nicer property. No breakfast due to COVID concerns, but even when there was it was just toast, juice and coffee.
Internet was spotty, but mostly worked OK. Not password protected so use a VPN (I find this with about 1/2 of lower end hotels now).
The area is a little run down, but lots of decent restaurants and bars and quick access to the airport. No scenery to speak of, it's a place I'd stay on the way from one place to another, not for a vacation week.

Run away from this establishment!
a list of problems that led me to run out without staying.
Reserved a non-smoking room and received a room that had obviously been smoked in. It reeked of cigarette smoke.
The room itself was disgusting with holes/tears in the curtains and mold/mildew in the bathroom.
The dead bolt on the door did not engage. This was our biggest concern as my wife did not feel safe in a room with an electronic door lock system and no deadbolt.
When we talked with the management about these problems they denied any of them were problems. They denied being able to smell smoke (the front desk clerk was a smoker herself). They told us the deadbolt was only for keeping the maid from coming in if we sere still in the room.
The management was very rude and condescending toward our concerns.
We requested a refund/credit for out stay which was refused. I informed them that we were leaving without staying the night and would refute any charges on our credit card.

It was not very clean. There were black hairs everywhere (for reference I’m blonde, so not mine). You could feel crumbs on your feet when you walked across the floor. We asked for a non smoking room but our bathroom smelled like smoke. And there were 2 mosquitos in our bathroom.

Rough nite at Econo Lodge
The stay was not as good as previous stays at this establishment. I got a ling sized bed non smoking room and it reaked of smoke. Water pressure was terrible. Phone didn’t work even after having it replaced. Wifi didn’t work the entire time of my stay and i needed it for work purposes. I stay there because of the affordability knowing it is a no frills hotel but this time it was even lower than that.

The property was easy to check in. They do not provide any breakfast as indicated. They have a sign that says due to covid they do not have breakfast. Covid has not been an issue for dining out for well over a year. If they don't offer it any longer, remove it from your advertising. There was no internet access at all. The wifi for the hotel was missing for the entire week we stayed. I could go on here, but these two things along with the general uncleanliness of things overall made my review

Won’t go back!
We have stayed at this hotel 3 times. But it is in real need of updates and cleaning! Our room didn’t have a chair to sit in. Beds are uncomfortable and lacking good pillows! The carpets throughout really need replacing! Also, they advertise that breakfast comes with the room. It does not! They don’t even have coffee!

The room smelled like old beer and cigarettes. The carpet was filthy. He took a photocopy of our licenses and credit card and kept it on the counter in an open box!

They charged us for 3 nights when we only stayed 2 and claimed they didn't. There was racoons tearing the trash apart.

Ney disappointing and dirty
Very disappointing. Overall very dirty property. Bathroom door was off hinges and leaned against a wall.

I've stayed in a few fleabags in my time (and not particularly minded it), but this one takes the cake: So revolting that the only thing to do was plug your nose and laugh. Everything about it was rank: the parking lot, the reception area, the filthy carpet in the hallways, the gag-inducing reek of cigarette smoke. Worst of all? The pile of cigarette butts waiting for us on the stairway in the morning. Oh, and the police banging on someone's door in the night. Before I arrived I had thought I could fit in some work there but no such luck -- it's too gross and as far as I could tell there was no wifi.
I have to hand it to the two poor fellows at the desk: They were so gracious and helpful ... and sheepish, as if they were embarrassed by their workplace and were doing everything they could to make up for it. Guys, you deserve better! Run for the hills!

When we arrived at 8:30 PM, we were approached by local tenants that pushed drug paraphernalia.
PLEASE READ all of the reviews.
We were traveling with a 5 year old and a 74 year old and did not feel safe entering the premise. We tried to cancel and both the facility and Expedia did not refund. We spent 175$ a night for 2 rooms at this facility, and it was WORTH losing the money to not spend the night here. (still not happy with the facility and Expedia policy for cancellations).
