Owners Do Not Care About This Hotel
I was incredibly disappointed with this stay. I've stayed at this location many times over the years, most recently only a year ago, but the state of the room was abysmal.
My room was dirty, first and foremost. There were leaves on the floor and dust/dirt/hair in the corners, the baseboards that remained were stained and filthy, the AC had visible dirt and dust sitting on/in it, the comforter on the bed smelled, and there was a hair in the bed.
Clearly housekeeping is not keeping up - be that from poor staffing, low wages, or lack of care, I do not know.
The safety lock on the door to my room was broken.
The bathtub drained so slowly that my 7 minute shower left me standing in nearly 3 inches of water (see photo).
The TV looked like it had been dropped and would not work (see photo).
Luckily I travel with cleaning products and my own bed things. I checked in early in the day but didn't go to the room until very late that evening, and I couldn't be bothered to ask for a new room or get a different hotel that late on a holiday.
The lobby and hallways were fine, nothing amazing but not visibly disgusting.
I would have complained at checkout, but honestly both people who did my check in/check out were really nice and I know they likely can't do anything about it.
Hopefully my review will reach the people it needs to.
I do not plan to stay at this hotel again. I will gladly spend the extra $50/night to stay a few doors down where I know it is clean.

Nice one night stay.
In for a tournament. The room was nice and clean. Close to my destination. Loved the double entry. Room needed outlets on both sides of room as there was no desk for laptop on electrical outlets. Maybe add a more comfy chair and desk with lamp with outlets. Very courteous staff. Good value for a short 1-2 day stay. Basic hotel.

I like that it was very easy to check in and get to my room so hold me and compassionate and eager to help. on the downside there's no music stations on the TV TV was kind of small and the pool wasn't 24 hours

Not the friendliest of hotels I've stayed at. And their coffee was disgusting. I could see thru it to the bottom of my cup. Room was so-so. Probably won't stay there again.

We stayed here for one night, as we were visiting EIU the next day. The hotel was very clean, check in was quick, staff was nice. This hotel does not have an elevator, from what I gathered. So for those with limited ability, that would be helpful to know. Room was a good size, bathroom was very small. But we didn’t mind it. I thought the bed was comfortable. It was a great accommodation for what we needed.

For $90 per night, my expectations were not met. On arrival, the temperature in the room was over 95 degrees and the hotel’s exterior door was propped open instead of being locked.
There was a strong musty odor throughout the facility.
Although clean, the bathroom was extremely small.

The mattresses felt like they were made of cardboard and sounded like the were made of sheet metal. The pillows sunk into nothing that could hold your head up. The tv was so smalll it was like watching it from across a ball field. Worst nights sleep I ever had.

The room was a good size and the beds were super comfortable. Very clean hotel with nice staff. The do offer breakfast but nothing like eggs or waffles. They had toast, English muffins, cereal, yogurt and items like granola bars. (The granola bars did have bioengineered products). The offered coffee, orange and apple juice. Very pleasant stay!

Comfortable, plentiful continental breakfast, nice large, clean rooms, quiet. Clearly a "cot" was used for second bed but I didn't need it anyway. My bed creaked & was high
Now glad my 93yo mother didn't make the trip. Water in the fridge would've been nice & finally; in this age of covid19, should the
front desk person be wearing a mask?
What about hand sanitizer in the room?

Check in was easy but when we got to the room there were cracks in the ceiling where it was obvious water damage and paint peeling. In the morning I discovered an old finger nail and a dead roach in the bathroom. Breakfast had no juice, cereal with no milk. It was not worth it.

The beds were on metal bed frames which made it seem as though you were sleeping on a can. Every time we rolled over all you heard was an empty can being crushed. we woke up with our bodies completely sore. Left and went to another hotel.

Close to campus
The hotel looks very run down on the outside. As an EIU alum, I would recommend this hotel due to the proximity to campus and the bars/shops/restaurants. It is pretty much what you pay for. My only complaint about the room itself was that the bathroom sink was very small for a room with 2 queen beds and the bathroom itself was super tiny too.

Hotel from Hell!
HORRIBLE check-in. Attitude of the person checking me in was horrendous! Claimed I'd reserved 2 rooms!!! Had quite a discussion over that one even though I had a copy of my email confirmation. The carpeting in the hotel is absolutely filthy -- hallway AND room. One wall in the room appeared to have been shot with BB gun with all sort of paint chipped off the wall. The mattress appeared to be 15 years old with "grooves" in it. It sounded like a bass drum each time we moved. Discovered it was on a metal platform that continually popped. Wooden furniture VERY worn. Curtains falling off the rod with gap that let in light at night. All for over $100 a night!!! Do NOT stay here!!!

Good coffee, only available for a limited time. I killed a brown recluse spider the size of a quarter that came running out of the bathroom. Door frame rubber torn and hanging down on parking lot side. People gathering/partying in the prkg lot all hours of the night. And sit on curb across from the hotel prkg lot and watch our rooms which made us feel very unsafe. Their continental breakfast was more like an island snack. Dry toast, cold cereal (no milk). Juice machine was broke. Great ice machine though. When I called en route, I spoke with Henry and told him what time we would be there and that I was bringing two small dogs, less than 20 lbs. He said no problem, they are a pet friendly facility but there was a $30 fee. Ok, no problem. When we got there and I checked in, he said it was $30 for the first dog and $40 for the second and that their pet friendly room was already taken and our room would not be the king bed, but two full/queen beds. Then there was a huge list of do's and don't's for the pet friendly option. Of course, they tell me that there is extra charges for pets in case of damage that will be assessed upon check out, etc. I went to the front desk and told them i was checking out and wanted them to do a walk through of the room to ensure no surprise charges. they refused. As a courtesy I always strip the beds down prior to checking out. I slept on the left side of the bed only. When I stripped the bed, the sheet under the covers was filthy. Terrible place.

The room was neat and clean and had all the amenities I needed for a one-night stay. The shower drain did not clear as it should have and I left water there, but everything else worked well. The staff was pleasant. I would stay at this convenient location again. In fact, I'm thinking about reserving a room for later in the year.

Property was quiet (no road noise). A/C system was VERY quiet. Rooms clean.
Breakfast was a joke. For an area that is ignoring COVID, the breakfast arrangements are terrible. Have to "carry out"; no real hot options except toast/bagels. At least the LINCOLN GARDEN is in walking distance across the street -- and that is EXCELLENT.

No gym despite advertisement
This hotel has no gym or workout room despite the claim to the contrary on the hotels.com website listing. I was disappointed to discover this after I checked in. The free breakfast was pretty pathetic consisting of bagels, oatmeal packets and yogurt. The wifi connection was sporadic to the point that I simply used my cell phone hotspot. The front desk had to bring me an extension cord as the outlets in the room were maxed out with cords plugged in so that it looked like an octopus. On the upside, the bed was comfortable, plenty of parking, the refrigerator and microwave in room worked well and the rooms were clean.

We checked in between 4:30&5pm. My son used the restroom as soon as we got into our room. He
There was hair stuck in the sink, causing it not to drain. Called the front desk to let them know. The guy came in with a plunger and started to go into the bathroom. We told him again, that it was the sink not the toilet or the shower. He responds with, "Oh I don't know then. I'll have to wait until tomorrow when he (assumed he meant a maintenance man) is here to send him down. But he will have to take all those pipes apart under the sink." He didn't offer to move us to a different room nor did he offer any other type of solution to the issue. Most of the hair could have just been pulled out through the drain right inside of the sink without taking all the pipes apart underneath it. At the most, maybe to use one of those cheap plastic snakes. I've cleaned ours at home the same way before. There was no way I could bring myself to clean out a drain full of someone's else's hair and who knows what, at a motel. My daughter freaked out when she saw a bug crawling on the wall in the hallway near the back dooor. I wasn't worried about it until I got close enough to realize it was actually a cockroach and more than just one.

The hotel was clean, but old and in desperate need of a remodel. Chipped paint, dated furnishings and a musty smell. We had a short stay, late at night and it certainly worked for the night but if I needed to spend time in my room for multiple days, this wouldn't have been my choice. The staff was pleasant.

This was a basic, no thrills hotel. It is what we expected. It was clean. Other than check in, the staff nonexistent. We saw no staff. The breakfast was very basic, again, expected. I may have given this hotel a 4 rating but the bed was interesting. The mattress was fine but bed was on a metal platform. Everytime you turned or moved, it sounded like a drum banging. We could hear the same noise in the room next to ours. This was annoying.

Having never been to Charleston I picked this hotel because of the reviews. I honestly have no idea how anyone could review this place above a 2 or 3. It's old, the carpet is filthy, the bathroom door is half falling off the frame, the beds are super uncomfortable and the sheets are sandpaper. I wasn't expecting the 4Seasons but I was not expecting this.

The property is satisfactory, but my visit was winter time and they had total turned off the heat so room was about 48 degrees, it took over 4 hrs to bring room temperature up to 70 degrees. I understand not heating in rented rooms, but we had a prepaid reservation so at least set temperature to 60

I never expect much from a Days Inn. The accommodations were adequate, but the service of the gentleman at the Front Desk was exceptional!
I needed an email attachment printed, and they don't have a "Business Center". So he allowed me to send an email to his personal address, and he printed it out on the spot! Much obliged...!

More than I expected
I’m very particular about hotels…I should never watch TV shows about how dirty they are. That being said I enjoyed my stay here. We stayed for 7 days & everything was clean & they were attentive & only came in when we asked. When arrived our table had a loose screw but we told them & they changed it out the next day.

Stained carpets. Front entrance door non useable. Everything very worn and old. The worst was they charge extra for pets and then they put rooms right next to each other. You walk down the hall and it was terrible dogs barking on both sides of the hallway. When I complained I was told I could check out and I could get my money back! Thanks a lot!!!

Conveniently located to EIU and not far from downtown Charleston; reasonably priced. Room had some maintenance issues: a drawer had broken in two and the bathroom fan didn't work. The room was basically unventilated (lack of a bathroom fan didn't help), so it constantly smelled mildewy and/or like the bathroom, even with the window open.

Interesting experience :/
The staff were friendly. The facilities were ok. The beds room looked tidy but my sink was slow and there were water stains on the ceiling in the bathroom. The facilitiess could use an update- but I understand with the pandemic everything isnt the way it should be.
There were people hanging around all hours of the day and night. There's really no amenities- no pool or gym or lounge/visiting area- just a straight up motel.
It seems there might be some permanent residents or long/short term residents on site as indicated by the hibachi grill near the front of the hotel. There was also a lot of loud talking in the halls and loud televisions.
There were also people setting off fireworks in the parking lot at 9 AM on Sunday (it was July but not the fourth of July)

The check in was simple and efficient. The guy was considerate. But when my daughter and grand-daughter came to visit, the front desk called our room (as there is 24 hour camera surveillance) to tell us that we were not allowed to have visitors and that there were too many people in our room. The whole point of this trip was to see family and enjoy a wedding. The room was not thoroughly cleaned as there were plastic hangers left in the dresser. And the carpet looked dirty.

Outdated. Issue with internet at check-in. Didn’t like the fact that 1st floor rooms were used for extended stay guest who lived at the hotel. Found a small larvae on the bed and didn’t want to continue my stay. Staff offered to switch blankets and or room, but I didn’t feel comfortable.

Staff was great and very helpful and accommodating. The AC unit in the room from my first stay was broken, but I was offered the ability to move rooms or be brought other solutions (a fan). Pretty much only used my room for eating take out food or sleeping, but it served it’s purpose.
