Staff was highly professional and timely in whatever duties they were performing. Day shift manager was available and always willing to stop and answer questions or just talk with his guests. Rooms facing the highway are not conducive to a good nights sleep. Walking into the facility area is covered in cigarette butts from guests not properly disposing them. They’re an eyesore and run a slipping hazard when mixed with water or snow.

The hotel was located in a congested area just outside of Boston. The entrance to the parking area was a bit difficult to find in the dark. Parking worked out well as we were parked close to a back entrance. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and neat with good amenities. Nice breakfast was included. Some street noise, but not too bad. Would definitely stay there again.

Upon arriving to our room, we found bed bugs in our bed. Staff was good about getting us into a new room however I was told by two separate people, that a manager would call me to make things right and several days went by with no call from management. I then reached out through Expedia to voice my frustration and it wasn’t until then that I got credited for one of my nights stays. I’m still extremely frustrated however because to this day, almost two months later, I still was never contacted by management!

Spooky fun place near Salem
Loved the front desk in spirit dressed up for Halloween and the lobby looked great as well! Also good location to stay if you plan to go to Salem like we did. Reasonable uber there and back to avoid the crazy traffic and lack of parking during those high season times in October.

This hotel is being used for transitional housing. Had I known this I would have never booked my family to stay here. They also make it non-refundable so you are stuck. They had a man sitting in the hall with a clip board monitoring the hallways. They could have at least kept the indignant on a different floor from the people paying for their rooms. Also, seen a cockroach in the hallway. Absolutely disgusting!

This room was much smaller than other Holiday Inn Express locations we have stayed at recently. VERY noisy all night, due to the very busy highway outside the front of the hotel. Breakfast was good.

The window doesn’t even have a curtain. It has an old white stained up thing you pull down that’s see through. I hate it here. They charged my full stay at check in rather then leaving. If I had known… I would have stopped it and left. Literally so disappointed with this hotel. It’s also in a bad area and hard to get in and out.

Met our needs
The photo of the hotel front looks lovely. What it doesn't show is the multi-storied dark parking structure next to the driveway. Getting into the hotel is sketchy as it is simply a driveway off the busy road with a tiny hotel sign. If you miss it as we did, you have to go way around to try it again. The area around the hotel isn't attractive or safe looking. That said, once inside things looked fine. We were first given a room that wasn't cleaned, so we had to take all our things back downstairs for another room. Your options are for a room off the loud and busy highway, or a view to the quiet parking structure. We went for the parking structure view and had a quiet and pleasant two night stay. The room was spacious, and the bed comfy. Breakfast at Holiday Inns are always great. There is a seasonal outdoor pool, which was closed and no hot tub. The girls at the desk were pleasant and the people maintaining the breakfast area were efficient and professional. Our stay was the last two nights of a much longer east coast trip, so all we wanted was a place to hole up and rest. This place met those needs.

Excellent stay at the Holiday Inn Express (Saugus) for 3 nights. Parking was convenient. Front desk associates were very friendly and helpful. Room was very spacious and bright. Housekeeping was excellent, room was very clean and maintained very well each day. Breakfast was not the usual continental breakfast - excellent choices of hot selections , as well as pastries/Danishes/cereals.
Both check in and check out were very quick and efficient. Highly recommend this excellent hotel.

Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Loved the pillows. Tub was standard and not deep. Plenty of space to store things. It was fairly quiet when we were there which was nice. Breakfast was nice but no waffles. :( .

Avoid at all costs
The bed sheets were dirty and stained. When I checked in I asked the man behind the front desk how long it would take to get downtown for 7.30am for a tour pick up: that I was travelling for abroad and hadn’t been to the city before. He told me it would take 15-20mins in a taxi and that leaving at 6.30 as planned was far too early and not necessary as it wasn’t rush hour. I therefore checked out at 7am and then learned from his colleagues and everyone else I subsequently told about the situation that he’d lied and it would take 40-45mins to get downtown. I missed my non refundable tour. The staff on duty were indifferent, unhelpful and unapologetic to my distress from the situation their colleagues incompetence had put me in. Erin wouldn’t even look at my face when speaking to me. I asked to speak to the manager. I was told the hotel has no manager on duty outside working hours (as an airport hotel, isn’t the day the quietest period?) and to email Wil Pierce the General Manager. I have done so twice and Mr Pierce has ignored me. Avoid this dirty hotel and it’s rude staff at all cost. It brings IHG into disrepute.

We had reserved a king bed and was given a queen bed room. The front desk said Expedia made the reservation for a queen bed. When I showed the front desk my e-mail with a king bed reservation, he said they didn’t have any king bed rooms. Expedia was the problem, not the hotel

We had a fire alarm go off at 3:30 am. Everyone went outside but no one from the hotel ever said a word to us. There was no fire and the firemen left. No one said we could go back in, we just did. Even in the morning, no one from the hotel said anything or offered compensation.

Weeklong Business Stay
Had business in Boston for the week. Hotel for being right on busy Route 1 was very quiet. Room was clean and comfortable, and the front-end staff was amazing. I travel at least a couple of weeks per month on business and this was one of the best hotels I've stayed in, great job to all there.

DO NOT GO HERE. UNSAFE environment and staff has no regard for occupants safety. Fire alarm got set off at 3am, which wasn’t the issue. Once the fire alarm went off and we (me, a friend, and a child) rushed out the nearest staircase that took us to the parking lot. There is only one way in and out of the lot for the hotel so we were in the parking lot which is in the back of the building. There was not a single staff member in sight. Nobody was there to tell us what was going on and when it was safe to return to our rooms or to check that the people returning to the hotel belonged. When we returned inside after the fire fighters left a man was waiting for us to open the side door with our keycard. He followed us upstairs (again we had a child) and we couldn’t return to our room right away because we were scared he would try and follow us in. Couldn’t even go back to sleep because we were so scared someone was going to try and come in but it was now 4 am and we had nowhere else to go. Hotel staff brushed off our safety complaints and did not seem to take it seriously at all.

Seems like a new hotel in good location easy access. Staff friendly and helpful. There were some really LOUD people that came in after midnight making a ruckus in the hall and next room. I was too tired to call the desk or open the door to request be quiet!

The person at the front desk gave us the wrong room and denied our original booking for a room with a different bed. We were also not given room keys so could only get back into the room by asking staff to open the door manually. Also the refrigerator did not work. I do not recommend this hotel.

I booked a room with a walk in shower for injury reasons I personally have. It's easier to get in and out of. That's not what we got when we got our room. There was an awful smell in our room. Couldn't pin point where it was really coming from only place you could tell it wasn't coming from was the bathroom!!! We Thought maybe it was coming from the cooling/heating system that's under the window because it seemed to be older figured maybe the unit was going to go soon. until the morning we were getting our things picked up and packed and ready to leave. I got out of bed and some thing fell from, I'm truly HOPING AND PRAYING, under the mattress and NOT from between the sheets or pillows!! It was a little bigger than the size of a half dollar coin, almost the size of a paper bill ripped in half. It looked like a piece of beef jerky to be honest but def was not! It was definitely something that had been wherever it came from for a long period of time and had been decomposing. I left it where it fell because I was mortified and wanted to go home to my children. So we checked out and left to come home. I'm disgusted and for the prices of the stay I'm not happy at all. The smell you could smell as soon as you entered the room! I'm still waiting for my 100 incidental to be released back to me! I should be compensated for dealing with the horrid smell our entire stay and whatever fell from the bed! I don't want to know what I would have found if I searched to see where it came from!!

Shower curtain was dirty so didn't use shower, blinds were broken and wouldn't go up/down. People in the room next to us had children yelling at 4am. Was not a comfortable stay. When checking out, staff did not care.

The Holiday Inn Express in Saugus was just perfect

We stayed for 3 nights. The room seemed clean when we got there, but afterwards no one came to refresh the room, change towels, take out the garbage, change bedding, etc. There were kids running around and making noise. There was screaming in the middle of the night. I used to stay at other Holiday Inn hotels before, and I’ve never had such a bad experience like this.

I was there for a total of 10 Days. They told me when I arrived Cleaning of the room would be every other day. 3 days go by and i asked about the cleaning and emptying the the trash and clean towels they said come to the front desk to get the towels. Three different time they made excuses of why the room did nit get clean. the staff really busy, then one day staff called in sick, then they said cleaning is not guarenteed.. I dont want to stay in a hotel like this when they dont even empty buckets or clean the bathroom. You Pay so much money for a 10 day stay its crazy, I think alot of the hotels now in saugus are transitional housing for homeless, not sure if this was one of them.

This hotel was nice inside and had a wonderful free continental breakfast - rooms were very good, bed comfortable. One downside though was the traffic on the highway just outside the hotel - was noisy throughout the night since hotel is so close to the highway. Also the entrance is hard to see and get off of the highway from.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were so nice and were able to switch rooms when needed. The rooms were beautiful as well . The location is on a highway very secluded however would recommend! There no nice view but everything else so perfect!
