This place needs to be updated. Cigarette burns on bathtub and blanket. Small room. Room A/C barely adequate to heat room. Evrything was shopworn. Smelled of cigarettes.

My room didn’t have a smoke detector, it was torn off. The dead bolt was broken, I was at the very end of the hall but there was some strange noise in the wall above my bed the entire time, I would not stay here again.

Very loud at night nobody cared
Main problem we had other people that was staying there was very loud and rude called up to the front desk and nobody answered I wouldn't recommend to other people if they want sleep if people like to stay up all night that's the hotel to stay at I told the front desk and all they said was that it's a hotel I hope u treat ur other customers better than what u did us will b staying somewhere else whenever we come up to visit again

Last time I was here was 4 years ago and boy has it taken a HUGE dive. Reserved a non-smoking room and they gave us a smoking room that reeked so bad you could barely breathe and when I went and told them this wasn't what I reserved they said they couldn't change the room and had nothing available ( I reserved it 2 weeks ago!) They "claimed that all rooms default to smoking rooms when you reserve (baloney), the room was a wreck. Burnt holes in the bedspread and blankets, heavy urine smell, heavy smoking smell, dirty towels that hadn't been changed ( one was even still wet!!!) the rug in front of the sink was soaking wet ( not sure why), The AC didn't work, The sheets weren't clean , the TV had to be manually turned on and off, the remote was someone's ( who worked there) personal remote and you had to hold the battery in with your finger to make it work but the arrow buttons worked oddly ( up and down made the curser go sideways...), the dresser had a knob broken off and sticky red stuff on top of it, The hallway had dirt and debris on it and didn't look like it had been vacuumed in a while, and It was suppose to be breakfast included but there was no breakfast or even juice available (the person on staff said he wasn't given the the ok to put anything out and that there wasn't anything to put out, they had two tables against the wall but only one chair and he said there were no other chairs.This place was so incredibly disgusting and filthy health dept should be called

Room and lobby smells like an ashtray. Black mold on the bathroom ceiling.
Shower for a midget and water valve knob was broken and wouldn’t stay on.
Pillows old and lumpy. The mattress was old and broke down. Best price in town.

We choose this motel based on it advertising free breakfast, which they did not have. The room was relatively clean, but it's an older motel and there were several large holes in the wall and the floor needed vacuuming. The door had no safety chain and the deadbolt wouldn't work properly. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful, but the property is dilapidated.

Decent Stay
I stayed one night at American’s Best Value Inn. This is a “value” stay, for sure, and if you’re looking for a clean bed to sleep in, this will hit the mark. I would bring my own pillow next time, but the bed sheets were very nice and clean (pillow cases too). The towels also smelled fresh and clean.
The rooms are not kept up well at all. Nothing matched, drawers did not open smoothly, the caulking around fixtures was old, and it just didn’t look nice. The A/C worked well, however.
My room had a toilet that was very small and low to the ground. The shower head came up to my neck, and I’m short. The water pressure was very good, however. The drapes were worn out, as was the screen on my window. The drapes let in a little bit of light in the morning, but nothing a normal person would complain about. They need replacing, though. Again, the upkeep of the room is just not very good.
Lastly, the whole building smells of a strong cigarette smoke smell. Walking into the room, however, it smelled much fresher, but after a few minutes I could start to smell a lingering smoke odor. I’m stubborn, so it didn’t deter me from staying there.
Breakfast is NOT served here, as advertised. It was the thing I was actually most disappointed about. When I asked the concierge about it, I got a funny look like. An “oh no, not here!” kind of look. Management should consider revising their advertisement.

My room smelled like cigarette smoke so bad. I was worried about my grandson having an asthma attack from how strong the smoke smell. I found myself clearing my throat at times. The next morning, we just got up and left.

Mold growing in the bathroom, smelled musty, when to crawl into bed and the sheets/blankets hadn’t even been washed.. requested new at the front desk and was told they didn’t have extras that they would have to wash them right then and bring them back when they was finished…

A few hours into my stay, the desk clerk opened my door and almost walked in on me and my guest! Wow. She just let herself in. No dead bolts at this location. Smoking rooms only. Will never stay again. Privacy totally compromised.

I complain that the screen on b window was torn in half, he said there are no bugs this time ofvyear. I stripped the bed and the part underneath the sheets was filty. The old carpet was musty and reeked.

This was absolutely the worst most gross hotel I have stayed at in my life. We could breath in room. Hardly slept at all slept in our clothes cause the bed was so gross looking.

Would Not Recommend
Was moved 3 times to 3 different rooms by managements request. First room the popcorn ceiling fell on me (I didn’t complain because of a plumbing issues management was aware and already moving me). And I seen the carpenters there fixing it while I was in my second room in which same, the ceiling was falling every time I took a shower. My rates from the first room to the second went up $20 plus and getting a full set of clean towels was a day long asking and waiting. My second room my bed was made my first room the girl at the desk brought to me and had me make my own bed.
So without even a complaint I was moved to a third room this time the door wouldn’t shut, had to be adjusted on the hinges and the ice bucket was from a Days Inn. Fridge and microwave had hair in them- short black hair.
All 3 rooms the carpet was so filthy my feet showed it after just 1-2 trips to the bathroom.
3 out of 4 of the beds felt like concrete and getting an extra blanket is a big NO from the front desk as well as when you get a set of towels.
Never complained once to them but noticed my room rate went from $56 to 100 in just a 2 weeks time.
They need the health department to stay there - I cleaned my own air conditioning filters out,

The room was not clean and had a horrible odor. You would expect the cleanliness to be better considering the pandemic. I was in Decatur for a travel nursing assignment and was referred here by an employee. The day staff there was very racist and I can tell by the way I was treated those ladies treat other black people the same way. I was treated inhumane for asking simple questions about laundry facilities on the property. Also, I decided to check out of this place 2 days early and the lady at the front desk acted as if she was disgusted by me talking to her. She was very rude and sarcastic and her behavior was completely unnecessary and unacceptable. I simply laid the keycard on the counter and walked out. I would never ever refer anybody to this miserable place and they will never have the privilege of receiving my money again. Stay away from this place unless you have absolutely no other options.

Looked great from outside. Inside was worn and in need of TLC. Bathroom door in room had been puched by previous guest. Hotel had smoking rooms.....you could smell it everywhere inside the hotel.

I enjoyed the remoteness of the area. As well as the quiet solitude. The continental breakfast was appreciated because i went to early mass. I didn't have to wait in a line for fast food or wait in line to be seated then for the food to be prepared. The proximity to Route 36 and the street leading back to Decatur was awesome. Although things were fairly good, the facility could use some plumbing, carpentry and electrical upgrades.

First room was next to the smoking rooms and was awful. There was a cigarette burn in the center of the comforter, didnt look like it had been vacuumed well and the smoke from the neighbors room was so thick I could not sleep. I asked to be moved for the next 2 nights. The new room was night and day. Still a candy wrapper on the floor and a few particles but much better than the last and even the pillows were more comfortable. The "breakfasts" were mini muffins and a couple pieces of fruit but I wasnt staying there for the breakfast.

Customer service was super terrible if I could I would give them a negative 0 we checked in late after getting off the road. they were changing shift, the two ladies was super rude and inconsiderate, continued their conversation while we were just standing there, Room was stinky and outdated. We only stayed because it was after midnight, Sunday morning at checkout the front desk clerk was really nice so that was a plus.

chirping smoke alarm!!!
everything was wonderful.......except, the "smoke alarm" started chirping around 2:00 am, and made it very difficult to sleep very well.......i woke up numerous times!!

My hotel room did not seem upkept very well. The ceiling over the shower was falling in. The free breakfast consisted of the choice of a stale muffin or cornflakes. I will not be returning to this hotel again.

The toilet was dirty. There appeared to be some mold on the ceiling above the shower. The wall in the shower area had been patched, but not painted. The bathroom door was very hard to close or open. There was some dirt on the carpet that had not been vacuumed. The blower on the heating/cooling unit was so loud, that when it came on, it would wake you from your sleep.

I did not realize there are still hotels in Illinois allowing smoking in rooms . I was stuck in smoking room because I received great rate on discount site . I had forgotten how much I disliked that smell that permeates all fabric.

It took 25 minutes to check in because my confirmation number was not the same as theirs and my credit card was perceived as a debit card. I reserved a non-smoking room but was not given one. I've stayed at this establishment several times in the past. I will only set the reservation myself from now on. All of the information that I gave Expedia was not transferred properly. What a waste of time!

I really can't complain, it was very reasonably priced. Old and out dated, but clean. I brought my own breakfast so I didn't use what they had. I did try and get coffee on the last day and the gal told me it was all gone. However the sign said breakfast was served until 9:30 and this was at 8:50.

We liked that it was located very near to the convention we attended. The room was nice. The only negative was the skimpy breakfast each morning. There were no eggs or hot cereal only minimal cold offerings & sometimes watered down juice. We ate elsewhere.

Most disgusting place we have ever stayed.
Reserved a non-smoking and king bed room smelt of smoke and was 2 double bed. Coffee in the morning was shut down at 8:30 no coffee when food was to be available until 9:30 no offer to make more. Hallways smelt like someone relieved themselves. Terrible experience will never stay there again.

The chair that was in there was stained like you would not believe. The shower/tub had hair and what looked like blood drops in around it.. there was a dirty towel and rag that was hardened hanging on the shower rod.. cigarette burns in the comforter and sheets..

Disappointed!
The room was very dirty. Carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed, sink was dirty, with crud built up around the faucet, shower had hair stuck to the shower walls, the floor corners and edges had built up dirt, the clock did not work and you could not read the time because the lighted dial was burnt out, and one of the pole lamps did not work. The young lady at the front desk was very friendly and courteous.

Motel out on edge of Decatur. Had to drive miles into downtown to eat. Whole place smelled like smoking it was hard to escape from that. Opened window to get fresh air in non-smoking room. Bathrooms tiny and sink was about at my waist level, uncomfortable! Beds alright. Is pet friendly and why we stayed- very reasonable rate for a single night only.
Definitely would not return- would choose another chain first.
Not impressed at all.

The staff was nice and accomodating at check-in. However, we were supposed to be in a non-smoking room but I could still smell smoke in the hallway where my room was located. The rooms were smaller than they looked in the advertisement and the bed linen was not at all appealing, as it had a few stains that made me feel uncomfortable with sleeping in it.

Wrong Room
The hotel and the room were really nice. I am from Decatur, Illinois, so I was happy not being IN the city. My problem is I always ask for a smoking room, but they booked me in a non-smoking room.
