Beware....this place gouges you to over $350 a night when it should be $83. Apparently special weekends at college make them take advantage of everyone that simply just need a place to sleep.

The property was in poor condition. The shower had drop ceiling and the tiles were bowed (wife thought they were going to fall. Cobb webs in the corner and peeling paint on the shower wall. The TV was small and took a while for picture to become clear. The owner/Manager is really nice but at checkout 11:00 there was nobody at the front desk nor during breakfast. If you're looking for more than a very modest breakfast compared to other brands you will be disappointed.

Sketchie is the best way to put this Hotel. Our bathroom door did not close unless you pulled it up and into the hinge. I went to the desk twice and no one was there. Had to call on a phone and the man only said what to do, never face to face. Checked in with someone, but after that did not see staff.

Stay away! -
Do not book unless absolutely necessary. Booked a room - was in the room for less than 15 minutes and a roach runs across the bathroom counter. Immediately go to the front desk and ask for a different room at first, clerk says they don’t have any. Ok cool, then I’m going to check out and request a refund for my 15 minute stay. Clerk says you must call for a refund. No worries, I’ll call in the am. Call and speak with representative from Hotels.com - service from them was excellent- they said let me call the hotel and request a refund. Denied - hotel says they won’t refund!
My suggestion - book only if absolutely necessary and do not bring anything into the room with you, as they might come home in your belongings!!

Terrible room conditions
The hotel room had holes in the wall. The bathroom walls and tub were covered in mold. The bed sheets were covered in stains. We could not stay there and had to leave within 5 minutes of being there.

Stained and sagging ceiling tiles, cobwebs over sink and in shower. Stained carpeting and chair cushions in room. Off putting smell throughout hotel. Room door did not fully close on it's own, had to pull it shut when I left room. Peeling paint and mold around shower area.

There was no cart to put my luggage on to get to my room. Im assuming it was the owner who stepped up and helped me with my luggage. He was always so pleasant to speak with. Our sink wouldnt drain properly and the faucet needed a washer and water sprayed onto the surface. Our dead bolt didn't work which made me a bit nervous.

Things are dirty and smelly from the time you walk in. Walls are filthy, carpets are dirty the room i had has black mold, no coffee machine. People are propping outside doors open. Bathtub was covered with cigarette burns.
Continental breakfast was walmart rice krispys, and brown bananas.
Card for doors deactivates if put by cellbphone

We were there for our daughters graduation from U of I- the room rate was more than triple the normal rate- they really do NOT have a breakfast- coffee & toast. The building was not taken care- holes in walls, walls dirty..absolutely not worth the price we paid per night!!

Two stars is generous. I thought that it can’t be that bad given the ratings but it had a window to check in a multiple signs that you’d be thrown out if you were a problem. Kudos to the chambermaids who somehow made the rooms clean.

No one was at the front desk when I arrived. I called for service on their phone and waited 5 minutes for someone to arrrive. I had noisy neighbors in both adjoining rooms but the manager refused to give me a different room.

Stayed with family for 2 days to visit UIUC. Inn was clean and close to highway. Restaurants and gas stations were next door. Property was clean. Building was old but it was okay for me. Breakfast was okay - bread, butter, hot coco, milk, 2 cereals, juice, banana.

It was sufficient for the reason, just needed a place to stay close enough to the university to drop my daughter off at school. This is a great inexpensive place traveling alone to just sleep. Not a place I would go unless I had to. Front desk staff was a dear.

Fresh-smelling rooms?
Sign at desk boasts "Clean, Comfortable, Fresh-smelling rooms and public spaces," but the first room I was given was a recovering smoking room whose stale odor hit you immediately. The second room (after I objected to first) smelled a bit musty, but much better. Owner should never offer use of old, unprocessed smoking rooms until they're renovated. I am forgiving of older motels, but not on cleanliness and air quality. Clean the AIR as well as the sheets, please!

You get what you pay for. Blood stains everywhere, fights in the hallway. Staff was nice. Not sure what I expected for the price. Also have not yet gotten my damage deposit back.

Terrible experience
My key kept deactivating, the sink was leaking, the shower rod was broken, the covers had cigarette holes in it. You had to jimmy the lock to get in. Don't recommend staying at this place

Ruining Hotels.com
We booked this hotel and we called to make sure that it was confirmed. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a snow-storm and the hotel operator told us our room was not available and we would have to contact hotels.com to get a refund. I did contact hotels.com and I still have not been reimbursed for this room. My employees had to sleep the night in their vehicle throughout the snow-storm. Completely terrible service hands down. The hotel operator proceeded to have a bidding for our rooms at his counter between three other parties. How can this be allowed to happen. They should not be on hotels.com. When I contacted hotels.com, the customer service expert told me that the only way that I would be able to get any resolution would be to leave a terrible review on the website for this issue. Why can't they resolve it?

Not so good a hotel
There were a gaping hole in the wall of the room, the size of a soft ball. There were numerous small holes throughout. I saw dried-up mucus on the wall (eeww!).
People (suspicious looking) hanging around and smoking at the back door. I did not use that door for sake of not getting scoped as to which room I was staying. I learned again that you get the low level of hotel that is parallel to the cheap price you paid.

The room was disgustingly dirty. The bathroom was gross. One of my boys used the toilet and it wouldn’t flush. There was a plunger next to the toilet (obviously it wasn’t the first time the toilet clogged if you have a plunger next to the toilet) and I tried plunging away the crap for 20 minutes to no avail. Called front desk and they said they’d look at it. We got no response. Had to take my boys to nearby McDonalds to go to the bathroom. It was absolutely disgusting.

I did not stay there. The owner fraudulently took my reservation info and when I refused to stay there, used the info to make an unauthorized reservation for someone else. Another hindu stealing.

Poor conditions
The bathroom was in bad conditions, the toilet paper was not changed and dirty and the shower head did not work. Only a streak a was coming out. The sink would over over fill. Overpriced for the conditions of the room.

The property has seen better days, but it's still okay if all you're looking for is a place to sleep. Our double room had TV, mini fridge and microwave. The owner is adamant about no smoking in any of the rooms! We had to pay a $60 deposit (not mentioned on Expedia site) and sign a paper agreeing that we lose the deposit if we smoke in the room. Not a problem, because we don't smoke. But the next morning, when we are ready to hit the road, we have to wait while for the maid to go check the room to make sure we hadn't been smoking in the room. Our deposit was quickly refunded, but all of it was an inconvenient process.

The dead bolt lock was missing. The chain lock was missing too. There was a hole in the wall 12" x 12", that had been repaired with some wallpaper taped to the wall with packing tape, that had fallen on the floor. No elevator. Knock on the door at
3 AM was also annoying.

After check-in everything was great. The owner was friendly and the place was clean and quiet. The front desk lady needs to seek help. She kept nodding off. Took me 10 min to check in. Lay off the herion sweetheart. And I'm not joking.

The entry door did not latch. The bathroom door did not latch. Hair on the sheets. Splatters on the bathroom walls. Musty, smoky smell. Other things I can overlook, but these things were unacceptable.

It was horrible immediately when I got into the room I was greeted by roaches on my bed when I try to switch hotels the agent didn’t want me to instead move me to a diffrent room which probably had roaches just not visible.

There was blood spatter in the hallways. My room smelled of something that was dead. There were bullet holes in the hallway. The room had holes in the wall that were the size of a football and a soccer ball. The sheets and blankets had cigarette holes. The hotel was disgraceful. They would not refund my money for the first night. I am horrified that no one is held accountable and to me that is awful. I will never booked another thing from AARP Travel

The manager came up in pajamas for one. He was rude from jump start. Since the room was in my name and not the person that was staying and paying he refused to check him in. Even though the person that was paying and staying there was there with his debit card and id he still refused and we both are way over 35. So I had expedia change the name on the room to his he still refused. So then I go home to get my id even though I wasn't the one staying he then tell me in order for him to give us a room I would now have to give him a $60 deposit. And it states clearly on the window customers PAYING CASH will need to pay $60 and I even took a picture of it. And then he tells me that, that wasnt prohibited and that I can't be taking pictures in his establishment. So then I asked him about my refund and in his words no I give you nothing everything is non-refundable. So I sad we have all the documents ids and debit card that was used to book the room why not just give us a room. He told us no and asked us to leave or he was calling the police. Never again....

The rates were reasonable. The lawn/landscaping was unkept. Hadn't been mowed in weeks. The bed were hard. The shower didn't work. And the "continental breakfast" was nothing more than cereal, donuts etc. Will NOT stay here again.

I thought it was better then other reviews said it would be. Biggest complaint would be the shower wouldn't work so I took a bath instead. The thermostat for the A/C unit was really hot or really cold no in between.

There are 13 nails sticking out from the walls in my room, I had to unplug the tv to gain access to an outlet that actually worked, there are stains on the furniture, a distinct smell of cigarettes throughout the hotel and my room despite being a non-smoking property, the drawers are crooked, the clock is plugged in but does not work, there is a cooler with ice in it sitting next to the broken ice machine, and the sink and tub faucet constantly leak.

First we called the manager as directed on the phone in the pretty shabby lobby and he acted annoyed and put out though he did come. It was the room that was the worst I’ve ever had. The room had a huge chunk out of the side of the tub, a funky smell (a sign said they have been a non-smoking hotel since Feb 2019, and mostly they have new carpet) and a window that wouldn’t open. He came and said “we don’t have smells”, the tub was “no problem” and he couldn’t pry open the window. He then offered us air freshener. I called Expedia to ask what they could do - she called him and he hung up on her. She called back and he said he didn’t want to lose the money so he wouldn’t refund the reservation. He also said we had been there for an hour and a half when in reality we had been there about 5 minutes when we called. Then all of the sudden he came and offered us a new room which smelled better and we could open the window. Other than really lumpy pillows it was okay after that, though we didn’t want to run into him so we didn’t have any breakfast there. He should’ve given us that room to start with. It was $60 the first night and $159 the second night which I’m finding is common for weekends in that area. We will never stay at this hotel or chain again.

When I got to my room the refrigerator door was open and not cold. I did close the door and it got cold inside. After awhile I put some drinks in and later some leftover pizza. The room smelled a little musty but not overbearing. It didn't seem as bad the next morning. In the morning when I woke up and took the items out, the fridge was not cold at all. I did not notice it as much the next day. The shower did not work, so I wound up taking a bath, although the bath tub didn't really fill up all that much for a bath either. When I went to to use toilet paper I took the toilet paper roll off of the handle. The handle was barely attached to the wall. Also, I hung a towel on the rack above the toilet. When I grabbed it off the rack, the whole rack came down and I put it back up. After realizing my drinks and pizza were not in a cold fridge in the morning I went to go get ice but the ice machine did not work either. I wasn't expecting a lot out of the breakfast and it was mainly oatmeal, cereal, muffins and toast. The bed was ok but if you're doing anything on it other then sleeping you'll probably wake up the neighbors. I could hear the people in the next room talking after midnight when I got back. The only positives were the price I paid although maybe I overpaid and the lady who checked me in was nice even though she mentioned a couple of times they just got a new system and it took a few minutes to check in. It was close to where I needed to be but I won't stay here again.
