Place is a little run down, but mostly what I expected. For example, there was gum stuck on the bed frame and on the bathroom shower vent. A few bars of used soap were also accumulating on the top of the shower, likely a result of poor cleaner awareness. Beds themselves seemed clean and we had no issues with anything else.

Older hotel, A/C poor, no elevators. Staff friendly, rooms dated but clean. Inflation and seasonal gouging leaves this hotel overpriced for what it is.

The Sunlac Inn is an older property & somewhat dated. The staff were friendly & very helpful in sorting an error I made in the dates of my booking. Every was clean enough for a good night’s sleep. In the morning we were on our way with breakfast and good coffee.

This is an older hotel which could use some cosmetic updates but the bed were fine and we felt like they cared to make our stay comfortable. Very convenient to the highway. But don’t eat at Mr&Mrs J’s diner is my advice.

We feel like the staff didnt want to serve us breakfast. We feel this way because the food was out and the staff didn't make any for us or refill the food but when other people that was not minority walk in. They were refill the food for them.

Older, but nice.
Its an older hotel, but it was very clean and neat. The beds were a bit "springy," but otherwise fine. The shower wasn't very powerful, but the water was hot. The only downside was the heating unit was cycling on and off constantly was annoying.

If you are a fisherman they have a cleaning station open to you at your convenience and free ice machine when at odd times store closed. Property is pretty safe with coolers and items left on the back of the truck

The room was clean and neat. Bathroom clean. Basic ammenities. Bed was not comfortable. Seemed worn out. Bed sheets did not fit the bed very well and came off the mattress whenever I turned over in bed. Pillows too flat.

The bed was very comfortable. Staff was nice. They had a little dog that greeted visitors. The area around was not great, but seemed safe. Overall a good night sleep.

The stay was business, had planned elsewhere but had forgotten to confirm it while waiting for an approval. The other stays rates had gone up by the time I realized this error. Since I had stayed here before, I chose the Sunlac as it still fit within the price constraints. The thing I didn't like about the room was the lighting; the light was too dim for me with only lamps (makes me too sleepy when work needs to get done).

I recently booked the Sunlac Inn in Devils Lake for my parents so they could come and watch their grandson play baseball. It was one of the few places that had rooms so I went for it. When my parents checked in the pillows had black hair on them, the sheets looked used and the smell was pretty bad. When they went to talk to the front desk woman, she blew them off like it was the way it was. My parents asked for fresh sheets and pillow cases in which they were just handed some and told to change themselves. The bathroom door wouldn't close, the phone didn't work to even call the front desk. In the morning they went to make coffee, only to find out that the coffee cups were dirty and just stacked up again, so they were black inside.
Do not stay at this hotel. If it was just messy or a bad experience, that is one thing. But, the front desk woman had zero cares about their experience. The manager on duty said she couldn't do anything, I have to go through expedia for any complaints or refunds.

I Tavel to Devils Lake twice a month and have stayed at most of the hotels there.... it’s just as good to stay at as the more expensive ones in town. Little older but still nice and comfortable;)

Unsecured side door.
Dirty with dog hair and nail clippings along the ledge of the bed, stained mattress with cigarette burns in the mattress pad, and unvaccumed floors. Blinds that couldn't keep out the light. Thin walls and noisy, only quieting from 1AM-6AM. It was the only place with a vacancy, but I'll drive from a nearby city next time. I got supplies and cleaned it myself.

This hotel was absolutely disgusting. The moment you walk in the unsecured side entrance, you get hit in the nose with the unpleasant smell of old cigarette smoke and damp mildew. Imagine an old dish rag that's been balled up wet and left for a few days. Now, add in the smell of an ashtray that hasn't been cleaned out for a few weeks. Then, you get the pleasant surprise of entering your room. It's a game of "will my key work this time or not" in order to enter your room. Once inside, you're greeted by a couple of twin beds that look like they were rescued from a motel 6 remodel 20 years ago. The mattresses (if you can call them that) felt like hide-a-bed mattresses that have been used for 20 years. While the ashtray smell disappeared as you entered the room, the damp mildew smell intensified. The shower floor was so pitted it could have been used as a washboard. The shower was so narrow the shower cortain literally stuck to you while you showered. Which kind of defeated the purpose of showering considering the shower curtain likely has never been washed. On a positive note, there was plenty of water pressure. You also get the added bonus of poor quality building construction too. The people in the room above us were not excessively loud, but their every step made a terrible squeaking noise. This noise was so loud it woke our kids up a few times. Lastly, the "blinds" (no curtains) had several vertical veins broken and missing. No way to make the room dark. Avoid this place!

The front counter clerks are so awesome and very nice and they have such great customers service. We ha e checked in late and the lady who had help us, was so sweet and told us about breakfast and all that the hotel have to offer. The only that i was disappointed in was my room getting clean. The first night, they cleaned amazing but the second night, they just took out our trash... the towls were not replaced, the carpet were not vacuum... they didn't give us cups again. I like this place because it's close to everything but i was just disappointed in the room cleaning part

Good resting room.
They have been remolding so we were not sure what to expect. Room was roomy . Lots natural light,many lamps. I like the one where you charge your phone on it👍. New carpet,new flooring by the door very nice. Room clean and not over powering with cleaning smell. Beds very comfortable. Heating system worked very well. We enjoy coffee pot in room. The television was 50 inch. The breakfast ended at 9am it started at 5am. We were told at. Check-in. Hot and cold choices. Great to start the day. Lots of coffee. As you can tell we are coffee drinkers. Yes we're were very comfortable, felt safe. Close to restaurant. On main road. We will stay again.

It was a dated but clean, not really a business travel hotel. I would say it makes for a great fisherman’s base camp. I work nights while traveling— definitely no blackout curtains

It was ok for one night but I wouldn't have wanted to stay longer. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but I found it a bit oppressive - ceiling seemed low and small window. I think it is just the age of the building.
Picked it because it was cheaper than other places in the town.
Walked to the town centre in about 15 minutes. Some interesting buildings from 1910-1930.

I was very surprised to find how updated the rooms are. They have a very nice home feel. The exterior gave off a different vibe. The staff is very accommodating. I would stay here again for sure! Very nice experience.

I didn’t like how I went to check in and the front desk lady was really bad at greeting me and telling me I should have book room directly and how the owner would charge us by person for the room that including each of my kids not my toddler and was really rude knocking on my door when we still sleeping and we couldn’t even get breakfast because she said it ended at 9.: sad my kids couldn’t eat

Josh at the front desk was awesome. We asked if there was karaoke in town and he called every bar in town to check for us. The room was great with one of biggest tvs I've seen in a motel. My only complaint was that the ice machine was broken. I would stay again.

Staff are fantastic! Josh at check-in was so helpful and a great asset to the hotel. The lobby/breakfast room is nicely redecorated. The carpets in the halls and rooms need a GOOD clean. Add a bottle of hot sauce, any brand will do for the breakfast and some real butter (not the artificial chemical stuff). The room needs some TLC-the doors are splitting and splintering; mainly at the bottom but it shows. A new coat of paint would be nice too. Overall a good stay but expensive for the area and condition. The corridors and exterior need cleaning up, trash, cigarette butts not a good welcome or first impression.

In Expedia I entered show hotels with hot tub. This hotel came up as an option and upon arrival there is no hot tub. This was disappointing
